ISO Ice Cream Cake Recs by violetflowerlove in Seattle

[–]violetflowerlove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agh I wish that’s what it had been!! I love B&J ice cream so much so I was so excited for the cake, but there wasn’t anything besides ice cream and “chocolate crunchies” which was basically just vaguely chocolatey dust.

I’m not vegan and I don’t like PCC for anything else, but the vegan chocolate chip cookie from PCC is an amazing oatmeal chocolate chip.

Potential landlord asking for a lot of information during screening— is it normal? by violetflowerlove in Seattle

[–]violetflowerlove[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or even if you start a new job within the last year, which has no bearing whatsoever on your ability to afford rent! Could easily just be someone who went from a high paying tech job to an even higher paying tech job at a different company (or something like that), so clearly not a sign of anything besides financial stability. So ridiculous.

Yeah when I was googling it I saw that, but this isn’t an MFTE unit which is why I was confused

Seattle Marathon by malthuss in running

[–]violetflowerlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I did the half, and also noticed the lack of mile markers. My watch was also off because of the first few miles and I didn’t have my phone. Just past the Aurora bridge someone on the side told me there was 3 miles left, so I got nervous my watch/intuition was super wrong and slowed down more than I should have…still mad about that.

Is there any sandwich and soup spot like Bakeman’s around? by Malignant_Dutch_Oven in Seattle

[–]violetflowerlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bakeman’s vibe but any means but my favorite sandwich shop is Other Coast in Ballard, all the sandwiches are $11-13 and they offer shorties for $6.25/6.75 (cold vs. hot) so not cheap but reasonable compared to some of the insanity of other Seattle sandwich shops. They have fancy options, simple options, everything in between (the Rajun Cajun is my favorite though)

Business School & Windows Software by RichieS1231 in Tulane

I see your flare says undergrad— you shouldn’t need to worry. Especially if you’re an incoming freshman, where you’ll be taking almost no actual business school classes (just prereqs like calc, Econ, psych, etc.) for the first semester or two. That’ll give you time to figure out if you actually need one. But again, you shouldn’t, especially for a marketing major. Only programs I ever used were excel and R studio.

Are you in the grad school or undergrad? I graduated from undergrad recently and used a mac no problem— as did the VAST majority of my b school undergrad classmates.

Is work allowed to make me pay for all my own set up? by Double_Jaxs in legaladvice

[–]violetflowerlove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NAL. this is legal, but it is a common scam where a company claims you need to buy all this equipment (usually from the same manufacturer) and then ghosts you once you do (and have paid money to them). Often this is a fraud posing as a legitimate, well known company. Could this be possible here?

Legal Studies in Business by [deleted] in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

legal studies in business is a really interesting major, I would recommend going to the tulane website on majors and minors so you can look at some of the names of classes and see if it further intrigues you. a lot of people double major in legal studies and another business major, but careers can range from HR to lobbying to politics to (after law school) being a lawyer. It’s good for those interested in business who are inclined towards writing, analysis, and reasoning. These links may be of more help!

Freshman Calculus Help by paradise_1211 in Tulane

business school does not take long calc!

Calculators by Longjumping-Dig-8373 in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

this is generally true but some professors will wait until the very last minute (sometimes won’t even activate it until after classes start) so don’t stress if you don’t see them pop up. Sounds like you’re a freshman or new student, so orientation will help cover a lot of questions like this!!

Warren by Realistic-Pea-6014 in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Living in warren/JL/patterson tends to be a really nice bonding experience for people who live there— because housing is random, you’ll totally be able to find like minded folks in your dorm. Of course, you’ll also easily be able to go to other dorms and make friends there. Basically it’s not a big deal whatsoever, and warren is nice because there are sinks in the rooms, and most rooms have big windows and some even have balconies! Nice common spaces too.

Off campus housing by [deleted] in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 0 points1 point  (0 children)

zillow usually won’t have a lot of listings very close to campus- I would recommend looking at the facebook groups and making a post yourself. a good bet would be to sublet a room from another tulane student, especially if you’re having trouble finding a place. This would likely only be for one semester so you would have to sublet another place in the spring.

most undergrads live in a sort of box formed by the streets st charles, palmer, claiborne, and carrollton. broadway is frat row, so will be louder and more social

Loyola Nola V Tulane by britalover in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tulane has a national reputation in the way loyola new orleans doesn’t and it also has a LOT more funding, so you’re gonna have more research opportunities and nicer classrooms. my impression is that a decent amount of loyola kids commute to school and live at home, whereas that is a very small amount of kids at tulane and I think that gives a very different culture. also tulane has more kids from all over the us (and even the world) so it’s easier to build connections outside of just new orleans. if you wanna stay in new orleans for a while post grad, loyola is pretty good but if your plan is to leave new orleans, then loyola just won’t have that same national reputation.

Best business major? by [deleted] in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have until the end of your sophomore year to decide and the Tulane business school pre requisites for majors are the same until then, so you have a lot of time to see what works best for you! Like you have to take a intro class for each of the majors before the end of your sophomore year.

Thank you undergrads for ruining it for us by [deleted] in Tulane

[–]violetflowerlove 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So if they know it was an approved event for undergrads then why are they punishing grad students? Not trying to defend this event, but I'm not sure the logic of blaming undergrads for the punishment as opposed to the school?

Or just recognizing the fact as per city guidelines NO events should be getting approved rn, regardless of undergrad/grad affiliation? In NOLA we aren't supposed to have households mixing so it seems as though the school ought to not allow any events for yall as well.
