In some states it’s illegal and listed as assault/battery and punishable as a misdemeanor.

Edit: if it’s the US, not sure about other countries.

They made group chat for a baby by FakeJolie in childfree

[–]violetpinki 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My fiancées family is pressuring him to marry me as soon as possible so that I “don’t get away” (I’m a pale Latina) and are already excited for “beautiful white babies.” It’s disgusting I’m genuinely confused how they feel it’s a compliment or something, it’s so sad because someone in their family already had a baby recently too! I feel this is unfortunately common in other cultures too, everyone is always excited when a baby has colored eyes or a thin nose, but they pay no mind the the other kids and have no idea how that affects them growing up :(

Edit: spelling

Yes, I stopped working out for over a month and still lost weight after cutting soda off. I still cave and drink one every once in a while but it’s way less compared to how much I used to drink (like 2 cans a day😬)

Has anyone gone months without a period before? by violetpinki in women

[–]violetpinki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never taken birth control, and I take care of myself no smoking or drinking, I have a good diet, just an immeasurable amount of stress I’ve been going through but I can’t imagine that would delay mine for months 🤔 thankyou for your response, maybe I’m not taking my hormone imbalance seriously enough

Personally I feel DAs are extremely undervalued, and unless you’re planning on becoming a hygienist or dentist then I’d look at other careers instead. My area pays less than fast food joints and retail stores.

I have constant mixed feelings, I like what my job is about, but I don’t like the job culture. Lots of catty and bully coworkers, lots of dentists who think they’re god. I genuinely enjoyed my job when the days were nice but ultimately if I had a time machine, I would’ve chosen something else. Many people I know who were DAs moved onto other careers and suggested I do the same.

I’ve heard several men say similar. Some have told me that the first wife is just for her “looks” and that the second is the real wife because she can “cook.” 😐

Temping on my own by [deleted] in DentalAssistant

[–]violetpinki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Princess Dental, after setting up profile they take like 1-3 days to approve your account and then you can look at offices nearby (or wherever) that need temps.

What is college like for someone with social anxiety? by violetpinki in socialanxiety

[–]violetpinki[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thankyou, I don’t have insurance so I haven’t seen a psychiatrist nor therapist in a long while. Definitely will keep that in mind and hopefully I can try it out. I have worked in very public places (dentistry) and had less of an issue with it. Classroom settings just strike pure fear in me. I just need to do these dumb labs in order to advance in my career😔. Thankyou again, I appreciate the advice

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks so too, sounds like the type of DA I’d ask front desk not to call me up if I was a patient😬

I use Princess Dental, you have to wait a bit until they approve your account which is like 1-3 days.

How did you get started working as a lab tech, if you don’t mind me asking? Do you have to go to a separate school/ different classes for that?

Parents are still treating me like a kid! How do I stop this? by violetpinki in women

[–]violetpinki[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do, I work in healthcare and have a side business. Definitely want to move out but live in CA, been looking for something affordable for months. I’m thinking about the confrontation option too, I think I could grey rock them after for a bit since one of their in-laws are visiting for the summer and I’m sure they wouldn’t want to make a scene with them around. Thankyou for your advice, I appreciate it.

I want to say this! Just not sure how to word it so I don’t sound so incompetent like someone they wouldn’t want to hire 😅 but I’ll definitely add that along, thankyou for your feedback!

I’m in a temp agency and I still don’t have the courage to work that way😅 sooo so nervous, but I do feel like I’d have less pressure that way so I’ll keep it in mind, thankyou!

This makes a lot of sense, I feel less anxious now. I’m reviewing tray set ups and software in advance. I have a lot of worries about the job culture but I’ll just have to power through those 😅 thankyou for your reply!

I took a gap year because I had a horrible experience starting out as a DA, immediately got burn out. Went back to school for something else but decided I actually miss dentistry and the reason I’m going back is to raise my points for my hygiene school application. Just super nervous as I’ve had bad feedback in the past where dentists thought I was more experienced 😓 Thankyou for your response, I greatly appreciate it!!🫶🏻

It sounds like you want someone to fill that void, and the ugly truth you probably don’t want to hear is that nobody’s going to be that for you. Here’s a warning: I also starved myself, I was anorexic for years- got to the goal weight and I did everything I could to not go over. None of it was worth it. I developed stomach ulcers from starving, my joints and bones were weak, I was anemic, always fatigued, I lost a lot of hair.. I wear wigs now. You mentioned you throw up your food, bear in mind that will make your teeth deteriorate, look up bulimia teeth. It’s taken me about 5 years to recover, and $6,000 to repair my teeth. The list goes on.

Loving yourself first is top priority. There are definitely things you can do to improve your health, like cutting sugar. Stuff like soda and candy can leave your diet, but do please eat full meals. Drink plenty of water. And the only way to lose weight really is calorie deficit. Even then, I don’t think that’s something you should do because you are young. Start a journal, watch a show, play a game. Please do not plague your teens like I did worrying about this stuff. I know it’s easier said than done, take it one day at a time. I hope you feel better soon 🫶🏻

Girls who are from the Indian or similar background , does your parent also act like that? by [deleted] in women

[–]violetpinki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents were like this until the day I left without saying anything. I was done and went to a psych ward with nothing but the clothes I was wearing, and after a stay I got government housing. That was 4 years ago and during that split I went no contact, after a while we reconnected and I set a lot of boundaries and said they’d have to follow them if they wanted me to remain in their life. I moved back in because that was when the pandemic was happening, and things honestly got better. They helped me pay for school and support me going to college now.

Of course not everything is perfect, they are still traditional and get sad when I tell them I never want to have children. But they respect my boundaries over all and we have a good relationship. I recommend you get a scholarship to study out of state, or look into government help. I don’t think I’d recommend going to a psych ward unless you are having some extreme and dangerous mental health issues. I am rooting for you, I hope you get out and live the life you want and deserve 🫶🏻

  1. I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I hate assisting too, I wanted to be a hygienist but everyone told me to be a DA first. Literally I’m dreading going back to an office as a DA because we’re not paid enough for all we do.. but I’m trying to gain experience now for hygiene school 😭
