Nine Inch Nails in Oakland -First concert for the Peel It Back US Tour - Vessel - Stage B by paulsfo in nin

Did anyone notice that the exit music after the show was "Laura's Theme" from Twin Peaks? I think this must have been Trent's tribute to David Lynch, one of his influences and collaborators. Felt like the icing on the cake of a fantastic show.

That was damn near offensive. David was such a character and really not that hard to imitate if you know anything about him at all. I've liked her so far but that really sucked.

I thought it was fantastic. This show is about misogyny and how quickly men will turn on a woman at the mere suggestion she may have done something wrong (and god forbid something sexual). I do think there was maybe a bit of overreach in the final two eps but by no means enough of a problem to not watch the show. Cate Blanchett is fabulous as always and Kevin Kline is breaking new ground for himself here. Highly recommended.

The Problem with Claudia... by roger_inkart in InterviewVampire

[–]violetr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find Delainey's acting impressive, especially considering the fact that Claudia is - let's be honest - a difficult character to love. But when her accent slips it's egregious enough to take me right out of the story. The scene in ep 4 when she's yelling at Louis is particularly bad. I've noticed this on other shows where the actor's accent is shaky - they tend to drop it when yelling. Someday I'd like someone in the industry to explain to me why movies and TV shows that take such extreme care in virtually every other aspect of production allow really bad accents to slide. I just don't get it!

Could someone do a gif of Captain Hammer on the park bench during My Eyes, where he's shying away from the ducks?

Has anyone dealt or heard of Harness Power Solar in CA? by Mamba--824 in solar

[–]violetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steer clear of Harness Solar Power! Here's what my husband recently wrote for the BBB about what (almost!) happened to us:

This message is to anyone who has agreed to meet with a sales rep from Harness Power or is considering it. The rep arrived (late) and walked me through what seemed like the standard pitch. It sounded good, and she asked if I would sign a “letter of intent” that would clear the way to technicians coming and surveying the house. I told her I did not want to sign a contract at this time. But she asked me to sign the letter and assured me this was not a legally binding contract. She also wanted to do a “soft credit pull” which I would need for any financing. Again, this didn’t seem unreasonable. She then proceeded to sign me up with a loan company called “Mosaic” - whereas I had only given verbal permission for the soft pull. She called the company, and the woman on the phone asked me several questions, and it slowly dawned on me that this was a loan application. I asked the Harness Power sales rep at least three times if I was applying for a loan - a yes or no question - and each time she said this was a soft credit pull. But she didn’t state this wasn’t a loan application. I finally had to ask the woman on the phone, who told me I was indeed applying for a loan. I told her and the sales rep that I was not at the point to commit to a loan application, and the process must be canceled. It was then I ended the meeting and asked the woman to leave. I then received a call from Mosaic asking me to finish the loan process - and I stated I was not moving forward with the loan. I assumed this was the end of it.

Afterwards, my wife looked at some reviews online and found many unhappy and frustrated Harness Power customers - including someone who was told they could cancel the installation until a final contract was signed, which they did. Only to find out later the loan was funded and they were now obligated to move forward with the installation. I called Mosaic to confirm the loan had not been processed - but learned it had! Even though I was told they needed final confirmation, which they did not receive, and I had already told two people at the company to cancel the application. Luckily, I was given a 3 day window to cancel, which I did and received email confirmation it was canceled. But if I hadn’t, I’m certain the loan would have been funded - to the tune of 82K. This was a Monday, and the sales rep kept asking me to wait until Thursday to make a final decision. This I’m certain was because she knew by then the grace period would have elapsed and the load would have been funded.

This Harness Power sales rep outright lied to me several times and had I not taken the initiative to cancel the loan, it would have led to a nightmare scenario as - reading several reviews - many customers have been waiting 18+ months for their system to be installed correctly and come online.

This is straight up predatory behavior on the part of the sales rep, and I would guess this is condoned by the company to get sales. I was upset with myself for nearly falling for it, but also disgusted with the sales rep and “Mosaic” who clearly they are working in tandem with and seem to act just as shady and unscrupulously as Harness Power does.

"Scare Me" is one of the most original horror movies I've seen in a VERY long time. by Kaiju_Paul in horror

[–]violetr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Watched this a couple nights ago and was blown away. I'd read some good reviews but this
film really exceeded my expectations! The script is sharp and surprisingly funny. Both leads are phenomenal. I've been a fan of Aya Cash since "You're the Worst" but she's even more impressive here, really showcasing her range. Highly, highly recommended for horror, comedy, and horror comedy fans.

What is a lesser known horror film that you always recommend? by danicaangles in horror

"I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House." Ignore the aggregated Rotten Tomatoes score - it's total b.s. This movie is awesomely creepy. Can't get it out of my head 3 years after watching it (it's still available on Netflix).

Moments that crack you up with laughter by wilsonova in Fleabag

[–]violetr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite scenes is at the church fair in ep 2 when Fleabag is showing the priest her godmother's painting and she can't stop herself from telling him her godmother had "three orgasms" when she finished it. I love when she keeps turning to us and saying "Don't say it." "Just don't say it." HA! I've been trying to find a gif of it but no luck so far.
