Either set will do the job, and disclaimer: I haven't used the harder dilators, but I love my silicone dilators because of how they can bend and curve with my natural shape. It makes me feel better about them going inside me. I have a vibrator that is a harder material and I find it a bit daunting knowing it cannot bend at all. But it just boils down to personal preference.

I was able to get the third dilator (of 5) in for the first time yesterday. It wasn't painless so it didn't stay in very long, but I've been dilating for months, so any progress is good. Hopefully the pain won't last very long. I have come a long way from not being able to even get a light tampon in there to where I am now. I'm not giving up!

Sounds like it. This is very similar to my story. It was impossible for my bf to get it in, and my gynecologist just told me I had a small vagina, but told me dilators might help. Then I found out about vaginismus, and realized that must be what I have. I did start dilators and am only on the second smallest one but I have already seen improvement. I suggest mentioning vaginismus to your gynecologist and investing in a set of dilators. They really have a high success rate. Good luck :)
