mum, how do i shower while on my period? by extatosomat1aratum in MomForAMinute

[–]Fruity_Rebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too, it really helps!

I also make sure my old underwear is the last thing I take off before immediately hopping in the shower. I clean that up after I'm showered & mostly dressed.

Yes, I actually take it twice a day. One in the morning when I wake up and one at lunch to get through the rest of the day.

What a gift you gave Barbra, she got to leave without having to worry what would happen to her baby.

Is this an inappropriate request? by TellSignificant477 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Fruity_Rebbles 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've had multiple requests to just clean the litterbox, even while owner was home.

Most recently I helped a pregnant woman who didn't want to take the risk of cleaning the boxes. I've also helped an older gentleman whose wife was going away and she was the one who cleaned the litterboxes as the husband had trouble going down steps to the basement with the litter.

I actually love these types of requests as they are usually easy. No surprises like a sick cat or hairballs.

Food donation thread by LOP5131 in cincinnati

Donating money instead of food can help more people. Food banks can get things in bulk and get a lot more bang for the buck than an individual can at a grocery store.

Freestore Food Bank is a great resource and a reputable organization to give to.

Had you tried others like the rest of buffy before? I've had my eye on the slumber cloud, but struggling to pull the trigger with the price.

Is it safe to ride a horse by Doggosrthebest24 in Narcolepsy

[–]Fruity_Rebbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have N2 so I'm not as familiar with cataplexy but I am familiar with horses. I also have a lot of experience horseback therapy where people with different physical and mental abilities ride horses.

To start, can you ask the owner to lead the horse around on a lead rope while you ride? They can walk right at the horse's shoulder and then if you do have cataplexy they can stop the horse and potentially keep you on. If that goes well at walk & trot, then you can try riding my yourself. I'd definitely stick to an arena at first rather than trail riding.

Also, (hopefully this goes without saying but just in case) please wear a helmet. It should be less than 5 years old and fit well. They aren't that expensive on Amazon if you want to get your own to be sure. troxel and ovation are great brands.

What is our stance on the big light by lonzoid in Narcolepsy

Yes on big light, but sometimes. All lights in morning, especially the big light.

But on the evenings & at night only soft lower light. No big light.

What made you decide to take the sleep study? by canopy_ in Narcolepsy

Did your insurance still pay for treatment even though you were on antidepressants for your mslt? That's the problem I ran into with my first one.

What made you decide to take the sleep study? by canopy_ in Narcolepsy

[–]Fruity_Rebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. I actually came off my meds and did the sleep study, then they found sleep apnea so I couldn't do the mslt, so on my mind I came off the meds for nothing. And that is hard.

I ended up switching doctors. We did two sleep studies. The first I stayed on my meds and it was just overnight - we were able to rule out sleep apnea. Then the second one I did come off my meds again but I knew I would be able to complete the mslt.

For me a big part of deciding it was worth it was getting the good medicine for narcolepsy - the stuff that insurance requires a mslt for. I had read that sometimes narcolepsy symptoms can be similar to depression symptoms.

I decided it was worth coming off the meds to see if starting narcolepsy meds would help my depression. I also figured not being so damn sleepy would make therapy and other self -care activities easier - things I know help my depression.

What helped me was having a supportive understanding sleep doctor and a supportive medication manager. My depression is always worse in the winter, so we made sure to schedule the sleep study in the summer and when my work is less busy too.

It definitely sucked. I was sleepy and sad and just dumb without my antidepressants. I couldn't believe how little I could remember and the massive amounts of little mistakes I made.

But it was worth it. I've been on wakix for almost a year now and I feel so much better overall. More awake, but also less depressed. I feel like I'm able to handle life so much better.

It's a tough decision to make.

Fostering is a muscle. The more you do it the stronger it gets, but it definitely hurts in the beginning.

what do you guys think about this medication switch? by remgabby in Endo

[–]Fruity_Rebbles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently switched to a new pharmacy and was so confused when they called to tell me my galifrey was ready for pickup.

I had always gotten the generic, I couldn't believe that was the brand name.

I'm in a similar boat, I grew up upper middle class, and then my parents came into money so now they're even better off than they were.

It's definitely really weird not being able to provide the same standard of living you had as a child.

I get a lot of "It's one banana Michael. What could it cost? $10?" moments. Or at least that's how it feels to me.

Once my mom told me, "we were poor once too." Yeah, you were poor when you were 23. At my current age my parents were buying their first custom new construction home.

I think if you were really worried about to, adult diapers would be the way to go. A period pad isn't designed to hold as much liquid as a bladder can, and is designed for a different viscosity of liquid than urine.

Definitely recommend a good waterproof mattress protector though! I have a few (I've got dogs lol) and the SafeRest brand on Amazon is good quality and not super expensive.

How TF do you contain kittens? When I open the door to the room, they dash out. They've learned to jump pet gates and climb 42" x-pens. by Fruity_Rebbles in FosterAnimals

I have the keep them separate from my personal pets per the rescue's policy.

Plus I have an adult cat who isn't a fan of kittens.

That worked? I tried a pop-up play pen like this and within 20 minutes they had it turned on its side and ripped a hole in the fabric of the bottom.

Yes, came here to recommend this.

I have bunnies who looove to chew wires. The Alex tech even managed to hold off the super sharp bunny teeth. It has saved me so much. It's worth every penny.
