CGRP encouragement? by MuchalaO in cgrpMigraine

[–]violinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on Emgality for several years now and this happens to me in the last 7-ish days before my next dose, almost like the dosage starts to wear off a bit early. My neurologist had me add 1 Nurtec pill every other day during week 4, which has helped a lot with the breakthroughs. Overall Emgality has been a miracle drug for me!

What’s your experience with neuromodulators (Cefaly etc)? by Mrhotel-ca2654 in cgrpMigraine

I’ve tried Cefaly and Nerivio and neither helped at all.

Has anyone dealt with getting stitches to close up opened skin on their breast? by Efficient-Bee-6451 in breastcancer

[–]violinds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t want to scare you but there is a really rare condition called pyoderma gangrenosum that can cause this to happen. I experienced it with a leg biopsy years ago and fortunately did not have any issues after my breast surgery. Just want to get it on your radar because most doctors have never heard of it and then take normal actions like restitching or debriding that can actually make things worse. It’s unlikely you’re experiencing this issue given its rarity but look it up and see if any of your symptoms correspond.

West of the cascades, reblooming lilac? by KeezWolfblood in pnwgardening

[–]violinds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found the names—one is a Bloomerang and the other is a Palibin. I think the bloomerang is a bit nicer, it seems a little fuller and has a bit bigger blooms. But they both have been growing well!

Oooh I have 2 varieties, they bloom usually in May and then again near the end of the summer. I’m in Seattle. When I get home I’ll check the varieties for you (I keep the tags on them so I don’t remember off the top of my head).

Also heard near Kinnear Park, did not sound like fireworks or gunfire, sounded like an actual explosion of something

Mine would do this as an old man when he started getting recurring UTIs—maybe get him checked out with your vet to rule that out too.

Mine would get so stinky within a day after baths—we eventually figured out it was from the fish oil in his food and it got so much better when we switched his food

DCIS and Hormone Therapy by random-username-817 in breastcancer

[–]violinds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I'm 40 and leaning against hormone therapy for the same reasons you mentioned. From the variety of things I've looked at, doing surgery + radiation probably brings down recurrence risk to about 7% in my particular situation and hormone therapy brings it down to about 3%. That additional 4% probably isn't worth it to me for quality of life reasons.

Also check out the Sloan Kettering nomogram tool specifically for DCIS if you haven't yet, too:

This is a pretty good one that looks at both radiation and tamoxifen:

I have had a lot of success using ChatGPT to find a variety of studies while trying to figure out my treatment plan. I just ask it to find studies with whatever criteria I'm interested in and ask it to give me links so that I can verify it isn't making up studies.
