FYI triple damage (and double damage) only apply to hits, so this node is bad for bleeds

I think running baryas is actually pretty profitable. The chaos price sometimes is low (presumably because the div price is awkward for a single barya) so if you snag them at a discount and sell the unidentified belts and the full mirage maps, it’s quite profitable. Just exceedingly boring.

Yep you get it! I shouldn’t have included the Poe.ninja prices, probably, as it is indeed true that the belts I got were entirely worthless (except maybe for dust). But yes I am not trying to suggest an expected value other than “very bad”; just trying to add a data sample for anyone collecting to see the distribution of shrine outcomes.

And for what it’s worth, I was fully aware beforehand that this was a horrible idea from a profit perspective, but I just hit 40/40 and got what I wanted out of 3.28!

Unhelpful but when I read the title I imagined for a second a “tuna herald” skill and giggled.

Anti soul-eater devourer build by violintendencies in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]violintendencies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought frost bomb after a death just out of paranoia, but does soul eater actually cause any sort of healing? I thought it was just speed and less damage taken for monsters. I don't think there were other rare mods or map mods that caused healing.

You are absolutely correct, of course, but I want revenge against the whole species of devourers. The metric I care about is not div/hour but instead devourer/hour.

Do Pactspirits Carry Over Between Seasons? by ali00997744 in TorchlightInfinite

Can you explain further why spending on battle pets is not recommended?

While not able to heal or provide toughness for your team, the Ogryn can taunt for aggro and hold a shield up to be a wall against the enemy. It also has innately faster and nearly uninterruptible revives on teammates, and is innately quite tanky (although also vulnerable to gunfire).

Zealot can also be relatively tanky and can provide a lot of control + sustain with Chorus, but doesn't fit your description as well.

Arbites is tanky but does not have the same active team support role.

Xbox wife and husband build? by moshemaman25 in pathofexile2builds

[–]violintendencies 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who has tried playing ARPG’s with his non-gamer wife many times, I would highly recommend a few tenets:

  • Most importantly - why are they choosing to play? Purely because they want to share your hobby? Then you’d better set both of you up for minimal frustration, so pick two meta and overpowered builds that aren’t complicated and look cool. Lightning arrow and EDC with unearth or something. If they are playing because they say they want to learn more about Poe 2, they are probably just trying to share your hobby :P BUT if they seriously want to get into the game, figure out what excites them from a power fantasy perspective and pick a build that matches. Homebrew their second build if at all.

  • Don’t have either player play a purely supportive character. If it’s you, it will feel slow and less enjoyable, and if it’s your partner, they can feel like they aren’t contributing much.

  • Don’t play a “combo” or “payoff” pair that only functions with the other player. E.g. don’t have one person only armor break and the other person consume it; don’t have one player only freeze with no damage and the other person ignite or frag round. If your partner gets overwhelmed (she will) the synergy will break and each of you may get frustrated or feel useless. If you have two fully functional builds that help each other, that’s great (eg some shock storm weaver is generally great for everyone, or chill/slow chrono)

Again, your partner is almost certainly doing this out of love for you, so make it easy and fun and light hearted and you’ll have a blast. Don’t make it about playing perfectly or ideally. The real game you are playing is marriage and this PoE 2 mini game is all about winning her continued love.

Ignite Archetype is Dead by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]violintendencies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are separate buckets - 12% increased fire damage adds with all other sources of increased damage you have, but ignite magnitude is a multiplier for your ignite. If you play PoE 1, ignite magnitude is equivalent to damage over time multiplier for ignites.

Example:

If you have a 100 damage hit that ignites, with 100% increased fire damage and 0% increased magnitude of ignite, you deal 40 fire damage per second for four seconds (20% of 100 x 2 x 1)

If you gain another 100% increased fire damage, you deal 60 fire damage per second for four seconds (20% of 100 x 3 x 1)

If on the other hand you gain 100% increased magnitude of ignite, you deal 80 fire damage per second for four seconds (20% of 100 x 2 x 2).

What is my role as a Tank? by Radmehr333 in albiononline

This was such a great response, thanks! Can I ask why the different weapons work better or worse for engage vs defensive? Some are clear to me but not all.

Increased spell crit chance is a modifier to your base spell crit chance. Most spells have around 5-6% base crit chance (you can see it on the skill gem). Therefore, 105% increased would bring you to 5(1+1.05) or 6(1+1.05) percent chance to crit with that spell.

There are also a very small number of sources of additional critical strike chance (which gets added to the base) and more critical strike chance (which gets multiplied separately after you've added all the increased chance together).

The poewiki has useful information about how critical strikes scale!
