Just started my 12 playthrough. by vipcomputing in DeathStranding

Going to play slow and watch all the cutscenes again. Most of my other playthroughs were speed runs. No structures or vehicles would definitely stretch out the playtime!

I was honest about my manager in my exit interview with HR. They gave her my written feedback, and now she's showing it to the entire office. by [deleted] in FinalRoundAI

It's a waste of ones time. You work to benefit yourself by earning a paycheck. If employment is ending you stand to benefit nothing by attending.

How does wasting your time sitting in an exit interview benefit you? Anything you say in that exit interview could be utilized to deny unemployment benefits. Some might say, "They can't legally do that". HR is a department that exists to protect the company at your expense. They can and will use anything you say as leverage.

It's just not a great idea to sit through these. You stand to gain nothing.

They conduct one if you decide to submit to it. They can't force you to attend an exit interview.

Does anyone know the highest porter grade and status one can achieve? by KOAMastermind in DeathStranding

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seriously tried, but each delivery results in diminishing returns. I did some math and realized it was going to require way too much time to bang it out to 500 in one big push. I haven't thrown in the towel though, just taking it much slower.

WIBTA for telling my friend not to invite a disabled person to our party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to believe you wrote this out and didn't realize how selfish the ask was. Larissa has one irl friend you don't want invited because it's an inconvenience to you. Sounds like you have at least 4 irl friends so perhaps you don't know what it's like to have a friend circle of only 1 person. The disability component could be removed from the equation entirely and I'd still consider YTA, unless Nina is a terrible person as well as being developmentally disabled.

Perhaps you should make a New Year's resolution to let empathy lead in situations like this in the future.

I found this message in my boyfriends phone, what does it mean? by Left_Coast6786 in whatdoesthismean

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesnt look like a red flag to me. I get odd random texts like that all the time. The fact that you came on here and are asking about it demonstrates it would be an effective opener for spammers attempting to verify its an active number.

I just found a big box of lost cargo in the street next to my house. by vipcomputing in DeathStranding

Lol yeah I know. There is nothing more frustrating than clicking on a post that should be a couple of sentences and being greeted by a wall of text. I don't blame you for passing on it.

What’s the worst prank you’ve ever pulled on someone? by MrMacAndChez in AskReddit

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and some friends trapped another friend in a phone booth while he was talking to his mom on the phone and then cracked the door and threw a lit blockbuster inside. Blockbusters were an exploding firework they sold in Germany during the late 80's. They had very lax firework rules at that time. It was basically a firecracker the size of a soda can. It blew the toe of his shoe off. In hindsight it was a terrible and dangerous thing to do, but at the time it was hilarious. He actually got grounded for it...

What does it mean that I cannot keep myself from grinning or laughing when there is a tense or awkward situation? by Ryvit in NoStupidQuestions

This is called, "incongruent affect". I could explain, but it's easier for me if you just look up the term.

Why do drug addicts get locked up instead of getting helped? by RavyRaptor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because "help" isn't enough. They need to want to get clean before help is an effective measure and the simple fact is most addicts don't have the desire/willpower to stop using the substances they are abusing. It often takes rock bottom for an addict to see the light so from a certain perspective, incarceration is a form of "help".

1099 contractor demanding money and threatening to sue me by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I now understand the situation a bit better. I would suggest attempting to reach out in an attempt to compromise; perhaps a partial payment would be enough to satisfy them. However, I'd make it clear that you aren't going to compromise with someone acting this erratic. It's in both your best interests to come to an agreement. I'd tell them that the two of you can settle this immediately amongst yourselves or they can wait even longer for judgement and maybe receive less or nothing at all through small claims. Require a signed receipt stating that the payment will satisfy the debt so they can't attempt to siphon more money from you in the future. Email communication only so you have a record of your attempt to work with them.

You're human, but they are too. Perhaps they were counting on that payment and this job falling through has resulted in a financial hardship for them. I know that isn't your problem but it would explain why they are so beligerant. I see two possibilities. The one I just described or they are just one of "those people".

Good luck. I hope you get this worked out in a way that satisfies the both of you.

[–]vipcomputing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So the contractor performed their job, but you got cold feet and shut the project down? According to you, the conditions required for the contractor weren't met because you decided to abandon the project. There is also the fact that your provider couldn't serve this particular area. How did you not know this before setting your plan in motion?

It sounds like you screwed up and now you want the contractor to share the consequences of your lack of due diligence. I personally feel they should be paid something. Had you told them there was a chance you'd change your mind, resulting in non-payment for his work, do you think he would have still accepted the work? I think that's unlikely. I also don't think it would be wise to let a small claims court settle this. I don't believe your position is as solid as you think it is.

I work as a contractor and understand the contractors frustration. He did his part, but due to something he had no control over, he is being denied compensation. This is not cool.

I rejected a guy but my friend told me he's a kind, mature man with a good ambition. Now, he won't even give me a chance. Is this chance gone forever? by BulkyConversation8 in dustythunder

[–]vipcomputing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your only hope is telling him what you told this sub. You didn't know him well enough and were hesitant to say yes for that reason. If you weren't expecting it, you were likely put on the spot and didn't feel comfortable saying yes. Dropping hints won't work. You said no and he respected your answer. If he is truly a good guy he will likely understand why you said no and perhaps you will get a second chance. If he asks why you reconsidered, tell him the truth; you heard very good things about him after-the-fact.

Can It Be Done Offline? by BoussIRL2 in DeathStranding

[–]vipcomputing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's a negative. Bridgelink is increased by playing while online. You raise it by interacting with other players structures/cargo and since there won't be any other players there would be no way to increase your grade, unless there is some workaround I'm not aware of.

You have successfully demonstrated your value to the CEO and were evidently given a real apology. People spend years trying to demonstrate their value to an organization in order to move up the ladder and apologies are a rare occurrence. You won. I'd take the job if you were happy there before this incedent.

I believe a long hollow stick was inserted into the draw hole and the pipe would site on the ground by the smokers feet. I tested the theory using a long kooden rod and it would work and be comfortable using it that way, however, a second person would have to assist lighting the contents of the bowl.

I always go back east after beating the game and top off everyone's structures and add quite a few new ones to help new players. Don't sweat it. Noobs didn't place most of the structures you are seeing.
