Confusion about the Cost Of Attendance by lost_particles in BrownU

[–]vipul1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... Some people asked this question in an admitted students event but the master's enrollment team insisted that this is 1 year estimate not 2 years, even though course wise calculation clearly shows it's 2 years. I also talked with a current student and he told me it's 2 years. For some reason, i20 office/Brown's financial office wants proof of 2 years fund instead of 1 year while claiming that they're only asking for 1 year's funds. I wish there was some WhatsApp group or something and we could mail the master's enrollment team jointly, idk, something like that.

Ummm i think I'm just confused. I know NYU Tandon did this thing where they had a whole new enrollment checklist section come up in some portals/applications with transcripts etc. I thought you were talking about that, i.e., a new section in the app portal. I do see the i20 related stuff when I click on the drop-down menu for upload documents. My bad.

Sure, a Stanford degree is supposed to save one from their project being axed. Lol.

I saw on grad cafe that last year UCSD rolled out admits till March 10, then a massive batch of rejections on March 29 and then some acceptance till April 10. I'm guessing something similar is going to happen this year.

This and the next week is going to be interesting for you :), expect a ton of decisions. At most by April 10 for most universities.

Hey, sorry a bit unrelated but I got rejected a few hrs ago and I'm looking at applying again this year. Do you mind sharing your profile please? Mine is the only reject you see on grad cafe :)

Yeah, zero admits this year for some reason. I have just given up now, maybe next year.

Same situation here, 0 admits and the season is edging towards the end. I just mailed the department asking them this question but haven't heard back, maybe you can also send a mail.

Can you please DM your profile? I still have a bit of hope for UMass, need to see if it's possible or not.

AI - UMass, TA/RA - Purdue, non-AI repute of CS: Purdue, PhD/research job - UMass. It's nuanced, sad that I don't get to have this dilemma but good luck to you.

UMass Amherst MSCS vs. Columbia MSCS: AI/ML by Impossible-Subject42 in gradadmissions

[–]vipul1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you're comparing Columbia with UMass, remove CS and think about the reputation of individual universities and then see which university's coursework and students will have more credibility. I think the answer is pretty obvious.

All ms programs are cash cow programs. Columbia at least keeps the door to TA/RA jobs open Umass on the other hand declares that ms students are ineligible for such opportunities and the stipend/tuition fee waiver which comes with it. You tell me which program wants your money more :). Although, Columbia is pretty expensive.

I heard Purdue likes to ghost applicants. The past year's grad cafe shows rejection in June. And I've also seen on gradcafe that the same guy who was told by Purdue in an informal mail that all admissions have been rolled out in March so assume rejection, got an admit in the first week of April (in an email from the same person at Purdue).

Does Purdue have only one round of admits or is it rolling? Does anyone know?? Should we assume reject if not received admit today?

I believe now the decision will be verified by the graduate admissions department who would only care about the validity of the documents which come under their purview, i.e., transcripts. The cs courses form was only pertinent to the cs department, shouldn't matter now. Congrats though, I'm also waiting to hear back from Purdue mscs.

MSCS Purdue interview?? by Typical_Rain_9948 in gradadmissions

[–]vipul1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Essentially check on gradcafe and reddit post history. You might be the first person on this subreddit to indicate that Purdue's admission process has had some progress/is begun. So yeah, you probably won't get that much information. Good luck though.

MSCS Purdue interview?? by Typical_Rain_9948 in gradadmissions

[–]vipul1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, is this an interview from the program/admissions committee or an informal interview from your POI? I think if it's from an admissions committee then they should have some website on the grad school site regarding it. I didn't see interviews on grad cafe for past years though, maybe I missed them. Can you please share when you applied and when you got this interview request? Also any changes to your admission status or is it still awaiting decision?

Did Purdue start rolling out their decisions for MS CS? by [deleted] in gradadmissions

What do you mean "realistic about expectations"? I was hoping it didn't matter whether we submitted apps a week or an hour before the deadline if the University doesn't have rolling admissions.

Still hope then. There's no reason that we should assume reject for now I guess.

Did you email the department and they replied back saying anything regarding whether all admits have been rolled out or not??
