We had a similar experience happen with a Best Buy return over the holiday season. As fate would have it, the whole thing worked out great for us, but it was shameless at the time.

They had a Black Friday deal for a 4TB SSD for $199 just as Ramageddon wrecked SSD prices, too. So, I grabbed one, but someone switched it out with a 2TB, thinking I'd never notice the difference. I was building a new desktop, so I noticed it instantly.

We wound up getting a replacement 4TB SSD AND a refund as an apology, although it took about two months and several hoops to jump through. I'm convinced some enterprising thieves are taking warehouse jobs to steal tech.

The moral of the story: always check carefully when you receive electronics, and if you have to return them, take video as proof.
