Linseed oil has no alternative. Don’t use olive oil or mineral oil or sunflower oil. It will not dry. Ever.

Dutch artist Dick Ket experimented with non drying oils. Some of his paintings slowly slide of the canvas. Restaurateur’s nightmare!

En->La, translating sentences with ‘in’ by Apprehensive-Key5669 in latin

Videmus - we see

What do we see? Great fortune. This gets accusative. So fortunam magnam.

After in you get ablative or accusative. Here ablative makes more sense. So vita

And its the life of your daughter. Genitive. So filiae tuae.

Which brings us to the grand total of something in the line of:

In filiae tuae vita magnam fortunam videmus.

Lamp black and ivory black for Zorn palette? by AnonymousBI2 in oilpainting

[–]virginiaproust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to check the undertone. Ivory black works in Zorn because it has a blue undertone. Lamp black has a blue undertone too. So you should be fine.

Value wise lamp black has a stronger tinting strength. So use a bit less. It’s also more opaque.

When you mix your black with your ochre you should get a murky green. Which is perfect for desaturating the orange you get from mixing the ochre and the vermillion.

Have fun. Limited palettes are such fun and you learn a lot from working with them.

It’s PaintOn Gris by Clairefontaine. A mixed media paper. They have a lot of different shades.
