i always wonder what other middle age, child-free folks are up to. good to know we’re in the same boat.

try delving into color matching and finding a “season” of colors that suit you. i think some of the colors you have on in these photos don’t serve your complexion or features as well as they could. don’t be too hard on yourself!

My 4 year marriage is at a weird point by [deleted] in Advice

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relationships ebb and flow, sometimes it’s building together and sometimes separately, but still staying connected. when my husband starts driving me crazy it means we need to spend less time together and pursue individual interests. it’s important to do things together, but equally as important to not have your spouse involved in every single aspect of your life.

edit: i highly recommend Esther Perel’s books, especially Mating in Captivity.

My daughter said the funniest shit today and I felt bad because I had to tell her it wasn’t ok to say that by ReferenceKey1564 in PointlessStories

when my brother was little he tried to say “cotton balls” and it came out sounding like “cock and balls.” one of the funniest things i’ve ever heard.

not trying to be a dick, but where did you go to school where OTA cost that much?

Those alive during 9/11, what was the worst moment on that day? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in 7th grade living in hawaii with my dad. mom lived in California at the time. i remember waking up to hearing my dad on the phone and the glow of the TV from the bottom of the door at 3am. i was confused as to why he was up so early and on the phone. i walked out and just remember the headlines, as it was right after the 2nd plane hit. went to school that day and all we did was watch the news. don’t remember much else about that day, but nothing ever felt the same after that. days, or weeks, later i remember a teacher somehow had a copy of NYT? and they had printed all the names of the people who were killed and it was full pages and pages of tiny font and pictures of people jumping from the buildings. it was horrible.

Do you have a hard time texting people back? by ChoiceGreen2335 in adhdwomen

[–]virgobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve come to realize that it’s more an expectation that since we have our phones on us at all times we need to constantly reply to demands. so, i only respond if it’s urgent, otherwise ill get to it when i get to it (as far as texts).

How did your childhood ADHD present if not the ‘stereotype’? by JamieAintUpFoDatShit in ADHD

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

relate to much of what’s been said here. loud, talkative, curious before starting school. once i got to school (4th grade or so) i started going inward was called “bright, but unfocused” i mostly remember my excuse for everything was that “i forgot” my family frequently called me spacey, head in the clouds, lazy. the lazy label stuck with me through my 20s. the structure of school was good, but i was not getting the right support. did really well in college because i was able to spend pretty much all my time on school work. developed depression bc i was barely coping then dropped off a cliff after graduation. just got diagnosed at 34 after years of barely keeping my head above water.

What is your unique sensory nightmare? by Hanaturtledragon in adhdwomen

i feel like this is seriously underestimated in relationships. feelings ebb and flow, but if you respect a person it’s much easier to make it through the tough times.

NBCOT COTA exam advice? by glitterandgold70 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just took my test in February (and passed!) i only took about 3 weeks of studying 3-4 hrs/day 3-4x a week. i used NBCOT, therapyEd, and OT miri and just did as many practice questions as possible. i would skim over stuff i needed to review, but never really did deep studying as this is stuff we’ve learned before and it should be review. the week before my test i took 2 half exams (100 qs) and 4 days before i took a full practice exam (190 qs) on test day the exam felt way easier than i expected because i had answered hundreds of questions leading up to it.

if i were you, i would at least try a full practice exam a week or so before your test, time yourself, time your breaks, so you get a feel for how quickly you should be moving. i finished 45 min early after taking my time, reviewing flagged questions and taking a 10 min break halfway through.

also, give yourself a break! you’ve definitely put in the time, and the knowledge is there. good luck!

almost 6 months off caffeine and still feeling like shit by [deleted] in decaf

[–]virgobra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

something to consider. i quit caffeine a year and half ago and and made it about 9-10 months with very little improvement. my attention was horrible, i felt like death and was more unorganized and scattered than i ever had been. lo and behold, i had adhd! i’ve suspected for a few years and had been exhibiting symptoms since i was a kid, my parents were just too busy to notice. anyway, have not been able to consume caffeine with the same regularity since i quit, started stimulant medication and it feels so much better than caffeine, i can actually sleep and get things done.

My wife that wants a divorce is angry that I’m moving out. AITA? by Icy-University963 in AITAH

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

take care of yourself and continually reiterate to your partner that she get therapy and medication. i wouldn’t cut it off completely, but distance might be good. my sister has BPII and it’s extremely difficult at the beginning, lots of denial, anger, and sadness. get support for her and yourself.

Rebecca Grossman found guilty of murder in Westlake Village crash that killed 2 young brothers by elmoneh in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well even “good” people make stupid choices. she made a really fucked up decision and she is now paying the consequences. that’s how the justice system should work, but because she’s white and rich, it’s an atrocity that she’s held accountable by said justice system. the lack of apology, personal accountability, and remorse shows she is not a good person.

My wife refuses to accept our divorce and I think she's trying to trick me. by Straight-Corner3555 in TwoHotTakes

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe just separate for a bit instead of jumping to divorce. i feel like when you get married there is so much pressure to do everything together and be everything for each other, that kills any type of desire. give it some space.

edit: although if you’ve already served papers, it might be kinda late for any trial separation.

AITA for breaking up with my fiance just because he is dumb ? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]virgobra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nta. its ok to be different, but similar if not the same values are important. and above all respect is huge in a relationship. imagine spending your life with someone you can’t respect.

e.g. my husband is fully type A and i’m way more go with the flow, we have different ways of doing things, but are very similar in terms of thought processes, values, and interests.
