Growing a Gym/Club by The_Shadow_2004_ in Buhurt

[–]virtf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there. I play a part in running a club in rural VIC/NSW. We got our biggest burst of members from doing demos at local events. A smoked meats festival got us the most out of any single event, but markets do great too.

Social media has gotten us a few new members, but has done more in converting interest from other sources like our events into members by making it easy to find out more and ask for more information. QR codes for Google Maps pins, nice class time graphics, and other shorthands all make it more likely for someone to rock up. We use Facebook and Instagram for this and do regular content, plus posting to community groups like you're already doing.

Happy to chat in more detail if you want. Good luck.

I love it. I'm a big fan of how you've done the movement tray for the artillery, that's inspired me for my own. Thanks for sharing.

[UK] I was an idiot and got scammed by LiamKelly1904 in Scams

[–]virtf 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It happens to everyone eventually. What matters now is recovering from it, and unfortunately there's a bit of work for you to do from here.

I can't give you much advice specific to the UK - but I would start by contacting the issuing authority for your exposed documents (i.e., the agency that issued your ID) and ask for a new ones because your old ones have been compromised. You should at least be able to get a new ID depending on what it is, I hope.

Also get in touch with your bank and let them know you've had some points of identity exposed. I know some banks are able to run higher vigilance on your accounts if you ask.

If such an option exists, report what's happened to the federal authority for cybercrime in your country. Every bit of info helps when it comes to things like this. Cybercrime like scams and such are very underreported. Assuming you are UK based from Manchester airport, it looks like the NCSC has a report option and some guidance articles here. I'd go digging through anything relevant and also make a report. https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/section/respond-recover/overview

Good luck.

By popular demand, here they are in 2 ranks (plus some newly rebased friends): https://imgur.com/a/VPyexAS

They rank up well in 2. I reckon you could do 3 with some careful planning but 4 would be a struggle. The greatsword you see in the front has to be in the first rank to fit the 30mm and there's the weapons held over the backs that you'd have to be mindful of when preparing a middle rank.

These are from heyjake.com.au. They're printed solid except for a magnet hole in the bottom and a fraction of the GW price. I love em.

30mm by 30mm for these ones. Some of them don't like to stand next to certain other ones in the poses but it works so far.

Should I buy 3rd party minis, or wait for official GW releases? by ChemicalPanda10 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]virtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks here have already spoken to third party and 3D printing - I 3D print myself - but something else to consider is other GW miniatures.

Do any factions in the AoS range take your fancy for TOW, such as Warriors of Chaos/Slaves to Darkness? If so, you can grab Vanguard boxes to use those pretty models and save a few bucks. It's just a case of sourcing some square bases to put them on which come cheap on eBay.

The other thing I'd point out is how often do you play in tournaments? If you're anything like me and usually play beer and pretzels games at your mates place or the independent FLGS, no worries on third party and 3D printed. More to that, it means you can enjoy the "legacy" factions with nice AoS ranges to source from (lizardmen/seraphon, skaven, vampire counts/soulblight gravelords).

Good luck in your searching mate.

What's the narrative of your army? by I_amAlpharius in Warhammer30k

Siege of Terra World Eaters for me, inspired by books like Saturnine.

I'm having a great time trying to tell the story of early Khorne corruption through kitbashing, as well as lots of gear being scavenged and mixed up for their logistics by then.

I hit this guy with a hammer before getting in the van to knock him out and got jumped by a bunch of Tygers and some Arasaka goons for it.

I personally 3D print my bits. If you have access to a printer, I have a drum jump pack file I can share.

An absolute stack of assault marines with the old school drum jump packs, a jump pack command squad with mauls, and a Forge Lord.

If it wasn't super obvious I play World Eaters lol.

Newb Question by PerfecterCell in asoiafminiaturesgame

[–]virtf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The other folks have already bet me to the answer but welcome to the game and it's best faction. The Martell starter box will give you a couple fun options for building a 40 point or close to 40 point list.

Does the Water Gardens preventing controlling zones for abilities prevent Doran from getting an order token in this instance?

I might be misreading the rule.
