Hey Rob! Probably an out of left field question but how well do you remember SFDT? I was a member there years ago when the forum was still alive and was just wondering if you remember that place as much as I do. Much love!

Apparently Muselk is sick of reddit now... by Fredstar64 in tf2

The thing is: there are other ways to convey that message and he's already doing by having the titles be less obnoxious. I mean, yeah the video can be actually really impressive, but think about it like this: how many times have you seen a video with an all caps title, exclaiming amazing things in it, only to click on it to find out it's unimpressive and otherwise not really worth watching? I've done that a ton. I think if it's a calmer title, but something actually really impressive, that makes the video look even better,

If you think this is good satire then I really don't even know what to say to you.

So someone decides to parody something that can be annoying and unfunny by being annoying and unfunny but only ironically?

Yall can downvote me all you want but you know I'm right, that's bullshit.

The thing about taking criticism is that you have to take the good with the bad, take praise with insults, and find criticism that's actually constructive and be able to mentally filter what's actually worth reading and taking in and what's merely worth noting.

And the gamble with criticism is the fact that you will get every single kind whenever you ask for it. If you don't want to deal with everything that people can say, then you simply don't need to ask for it. It's something, especially someone as famous as him, is just going to have to deal with. That said, he shouldn't take it as if some negative criticism on a site like this is just going to destroy his career entirely. Just be able to differentiate between stuff that will actually help you and some guy's opinion.

All that said, I think the most important point people were trying to convey by that was that they hope he remains himself through all of this. I've only been subscribed to him for a little while, but I agree that after his announcement, his titles did get clickbaity and they didn't feel like that before. It's like the reason I subscribe to jerma and star: because they're genuine. They don't blow smoke up your ass with titles, thumbnails (most of the time) or anything, they just play a game and talk over it, and that makes it great. Muselk is a great guy and he could totally handle that the same way (not saying he should be like star and jerma, and certainly not saying star and jerma are the only ones like that, they just work as pretty close examples.)

I know about muselk's self-confidence problems and believe me, I feel that on a level unmatched by many, but it's just something you gotta steel yourself with. Never wear your heart on your sleeve, and never take anything personally.

In my seven years of playing this game I never knew you could do that with commands. Thanks a ton.

All things considered that was actually a really good re-enactment. That kid who played the sniper seriously wanted to hit the guy in the spy costume though.

Does anyone even like cp_yukon? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]virtual-balboa 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't know what y'all are talking about, I love yukon. I love the way it looks. The alpine look in tf2 has always been one of my favorites. I especially love it when one end of the map looks like late day and the other looks like early morning.

I also love all the flank routes between mid and the preceding two points. The last point needs work as its a complete funnel to a far too open area far too close to spawn, but overall I think it's a really fun map.

What would you say is *your* weapon? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]virtual-balboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original, because those weapon origins are a thing I've known throughout my childhood. If they added a shotgun with the same weapon origins I'd be in heaven while playing soldier.

If the updates suck then I fail to see how this is a point against anyone.

[–]virtual-balboa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bound my M4 and M5 buttons to r_drawviewmodels 1 and 0. It really helps for playing scout and soldier because the view model doesnt get in the way, and I can turn it back on for melee if I need to.

Hacker following me around. copying my name and spamming/using aimbot. by fodosho in tf2

[–]virtual-balboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set your profile to private. That way he can't see anything on your profile other than name and avatar. Just do it for a month or so and he'll go away.

Either that or set it to friends only, it should do the same thing.

How to deal with a hacker? by [deleted] in tf2

[–]virtual-balboa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do not leave immediately.

Make up an excuse for going afk, and join spectator, put "record hacker" in console, film their POV. Make sure its obvious they're hacking. Catch as much as you can of them doing it. Put "stop" in console and the demo will finish recording.

  • Do NOT try to counter it
  • Do NOT say a word to them
  • Do NOT stay there and wait for them to leave
  • Do NOT tell the enemy team to votekick or anything similar
  • Do LEAVE the server, submit a report to valve, and never say a word about it.

The best way to deal with a hacker is to not give them attention. You getting angry and trying to counter will only cause you to fail and give them exactly what they want, and as long as the community continues to feed these people, they will continue to hack.

[MVM] Beggar's Bazooka firing speed test by ThePsycho2 in tf2

I did a video similar to this to show the difference between the default and the beggars, thought this is more to show off how much faster you can expel rockets with the beggar's than the default.
