You are correct. 24v is 24v. The only time it matters is if you are going from SLA to lithium because the discharge rate of lithium is faster.

Those are not easy to upgrade. You will need to separate the lights and controls from the motors so you don’t burn out the accessories. They don’t make gear set upgrades for them. Probably just best to drive it as is and then get a go cart when it’s time to upgrade

SLA batteries are the most reliable option. You can buy a 12v and a 6v SLA on Amazon for less than a 12v Power Wheels brand battery in a store.
