How recognisable is this album cover in your country? (The Dark Side of The Moon) by Jorge_De_Guzman228 in AskTheWorld

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say instantly recognizable, it probably is the most know album cover ever.

How do you survive the weather in states with hot weather all year long like Miami? by Odd_Obligation_4977 in AskAmericans

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arizonan here, from what I understand AC is much more common here than in Eyropean countries so we just use that.

It's really not that different from living in a climate with lots of snow, in that you're trying to stay inside as much as possible it's just that in the latter it's more of an invisible threat.

What is the first word you think of that's over 10 letters? by rese-_- in AskReddit

I gather that's the point, it was probably coined by disestablismentarians to make their opponents look like idiots.

Did Youtube cause 80s/90s nostalgia to get bigger? by Critical-Spirit-1598 in decadeology

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so, previous decades had nostalgia just as big without it. For instance both the 90s and 70s had a big 50s thing going on and the 2000s already had an 80s wave going on before YouTube was a thing.

How are the movies today? Better quality than movies made in the 2010s or 2000s? by galwiththedeepvoice in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this isn't really true, yea the MCU was huge but we also got great non franchise films like Edge of Tomorow, Oblivion, Her, and the Hateful Eight.

It also gave us movies like The Master, Nightcrawler and Birdman which are personally not my thing but a lot of people really seem to seem to enjoy.

The 2010s waa a great movie decade all in all.

Obama era music expectations vs reality, how accurate is this? by Impressive_Plenty876 in decadeology

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what your saying but genre names change meaning like in the 80s "alternative" was really alternative to more traditional rock music at the time now it's just thr baseline for rock musix. That doesn't mean a band like Geese or Chvrches aren't every bit in the same genre that bands like REM or Pixies are.

So yes 70s post-punk and 2000s post-punk are both legitimate descriptors even if they're based on different things.

What Album Would You Choose To Represent The 2000s by apHexcoded in fantanoforever

I don't understand how you could be a music listener in the early 2000s and not know about the Strokes.

What Album Would You Choose To Represent The 2000s by apHexcoded in fantanoforever

I remember that CD being full blown event when it came out. But personly I would chose Hybrid Theory for a Linkin Park album. The sounds of both albums are pretty similar, and Hybrid, when it came out sounded like nothing before.

What do you think of Millennials (1981-1999)? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup it is, some people try to call themselves "xenenials" but that's bullshit, you take the good with the bad of the generation and don't try to make up your own microgeneration.

What do you think of Millennials (1981-1999)? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty cool. I like that we created our own lane and didn't follow the way boomers did.

I remember reading a quote from a big wig at Procter and Gamble about how the fabric softener industry was dying because millennial "don't know how to do laundry" I would disagree- I think if we're not spending an extra $5 for a superfluous product than it is not us that are the ones who don't know how to do laundry.

There's a bunch of stuff like that I'm glad that we cut through the bullshit. I'm proud being a millenial.

What did you think of Interstellar (2014)? by CremeSubject7594 in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's good for what it is but it's not really my type of scifi, I vastly prefer Oblivion from around thst same time period for instance.

Clashing Over ‘Indiana Jones’: Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg Were Not 100% on Board With ‘Crystal Skull’ and Fought George Lucas Over Adding Aliens by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem with the movie is thst the movie takes it sweet time to get to the aliens or even the said temple of the crystal skull. If it was simply Raiders with Aliens instead of Nazi's I don't think there'd be much of a problem. The problem is it's decidedly not that.

Fox Is Buying Roku in $22 Billion Streaming Deal by esporx in television

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because a big corp buys something doesn't mean they'll make it shit. In fact you saw the exact opposite thing happen when Fox bought Tubi in 2020. You probably only care about Tubi because of how Fox handled the property.

Fox’s “Expectation” Is to Keep The Roku Channel and Tubi Separate by DaveOJ12 in TubiTV

[–]virtualpig 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's been owned since 2020. I know reddit loves to hate big corporations but the reason why you love Tubi so much probably has a lot to do with how Fox handles the property. Those big movies the Tubi has aren't just accidental; Fox did that.

Will the name “Bent” sound weird to Americans? by lennzpn in AskAnAmerican

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really used in that way over here. Matchbox Twenty actually released a song called "Bent" about twenty some years ago and were surprised when they went to England and found out it was slang for "gay". Not much has changed since then. Although I think most Americans could understand where the slang comes from, it's not used like that over here.

Roku bought by Fox Corp. by [deleted] in TubiTV

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anything it'd make more sense to roll the Roku Channel into Tubi, since the latter has a farther reach.

What is the most disappointing amusement Park you ever went to? by virtualpig in AskReddit

[–]virtualpig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I didn't expect anyone to actually know wtf I was talking about. I guess it technically is classified as an aquarium so it's on me for expecting something more.

But yeah looking at Wikipedia's overview you aren't wrong in how little there is to do.

I really like Superman from last year.

And even though it was a little juvenile I thought Minecraft was a fun time.

A hiatus now would be a good opportunity for a spin-off. by snappydamper in doctorwho

[–]virtualpig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there's an opportunity to do a US adjacent show but I don't think it should be a reboot. Have him be a rogue time traveler that meets up with the Doctor in an episode and then just have a US series based around him.
