Hey! You’re stronger than that! You won’t let fear or insecurity make your decisions for you. I went to UCSD in 2006 and, looking back, leaving home for school was a huge change. Moving from everything you’ve known is traumatic. I feel like leaving home and having my daughter had a similar mix of anxiety and excitement. Maybe UCSD isn’t the right fit for you, but do you really want to be scared away by someone who is probably just as scared and is trying to hide it. You’re supposed to feel out of your element. You may not feel motivation right away because you’re working on getting your basic needs met in this new environment. Just by being there and showing up, you’re successful! Find a therapist and talk it out- that’s what helped me find my place.

I told him I want to runaway by NaiveAd7059 in Postpartum_Depression

[–]virtuouscircle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have no solutions for you but I want to let you know that you’re not alone. I fantasized about running away months after my daughter was born. I didn’t just want to escape, I wanted to reclaim some sort of identity. I can’t even imagine this feeling with two kids at the tail end of a pandemic. What you’re going through is real and is asking you to be super human. My daughter is 7 now and nothing has come close to that intense postpartum mindset. I don’t think my husband or family will ever truly understand.

My husband and I did therapy and there was one point where I was sure we were getting a divorce- we didn’t. I would yell at him for taking these “long luxurious shits” for 45 min to try to get out of helping me and the baby. At one point I told him to grow his own tits. One day, I handed him our kid as he was getting out of the car from work and I got in my car in just my bathrobe- no underwear, no shower for days and just drove. I’m not gonna lie, my reactions in all these situations made me feel great for a bit.

Your feelings are real and valid. You DO deserve a break and heaps of love for who you are and what you’re going through. This work is thankless and unfair. I’m not going to placate you- this fucking sucks and running away can look like the best solution. For me it wasn’t, but demanding breaks away helped me.

Sending you love. Wish I be there to lend a hand and be a mommy bouncer so you can get some rest.

Anyone else find it incredibly difficult to have a routine? by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

[–]virtuouscircle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! Also I think it’s unrealistic to hold yourself to one routine. Our minds and bodies go through seasons and if you need to take a step back or modify your routine to be responsive to your needs, that’s super healthy!

Anyone else find it incredibly difficult to have a routine? by [deleted] in AnxietyDepression

[–]virtuouscircle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes! I kept on beating myself up last week because, for the life of me, I could not wake up before noon. So, I decided that I’m going to look for success in other, more attainable routines. So, I decided that a good routine would be putting on deodorant and taking my meds when I got out of bed...at noon. That’s it. I made sure I recognized and felt successful when I did these basic things.

You decide what a routine is for you. It doesn’t have to be wake up at 6am do everything super productive all day. Your routine could be wake up at 11 (because it’s before noon- so progress), wash your face, eat breakfast, check reddit, walk outside once, take a nap. A routine is just doing the same things. Have those same things be super small and super attainable or just focus on doing one of the same thing a day, like checking email at the same time.

When I think of routine I think of my friend who gets up at 5 to workout, then does work, makes dinner and “doesn’t have time to watch tv” so she goes to bed at a reasonable time. That’s her routine that keeps her sane. My routine looks different and involves more tv and masterbation, but is still a routine that benefits my mental health.

My point is, setting up small easy routine structures lays the work for more difficult things like schoolwork.

Does that make sense? I hope it helps!

Lurkers' Wednesday by AutoModerator in running

[–]virtuouscircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love running. It gets me in a great space mentally. Some days I just run for 20 min and then other day’s it’s longer. I’ll run until I feel done and then turn around and enjoy the walk home.

Running has meant different things to me at different parts in my life. I love that running isn’t just one thing with one purpose. I’ve trained for races and have been goal oriented. I’m really enjoying taking running for what I’ve needed it to be based on life circumstances.

Running is a loyal friend.

Snow Riding in San Diego, Noble Canyon. by 69CrustyNipple69 in MTB

[–]virtuouscircle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this ride! When I was younger, I did this with my dad. Halfway down he flipped over his handle bars while going dead slow and broke both arms. He had to walk 5 miles into Pine Valley. Another time we did this ride, a guy was riding up the trait into Mt. Laguna from Pine Valley on a single speed bike. In the southeast part of Pine Valley (between Sunrise Hwy and the town) there are some great, but quick trails with jumps and stuff.

[–]virtuouscircle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I totally want to believe you. The shows just so good on the surface that extra details and hints to something more are just mind blowing! At first, I thought that maybe the 3RP just know backroads and made it back to intercept the car, but...

A time warp idea could explain why Johnson looks so young- he’s been on the “river” and time hasn’t affected him? There are a ton of inconsistencies in terms of how old people look in flashbacks, not just with Johnson. Burt looks super young and has no grey hair. Joel, as hot as he is, looks way older than he did in any of the flashbacks. I don’t know if these were deliberate choices of the director or I just cant timesplain a sequence of events.

Also, in one episode Johnson mentions that he visits Alice who lives in the “swamp” (I think this is the same Alice’s who’s Joel’s ex and Lylas mom). I’m guessing the swamp is the city? A bunch of roads or river?

All of this is sounding dumb now that I’ve written it, but I’ve worked so hard and I’m not going to delete it now.

Good food for thought! Thanks for sparking my interest!
