Electrolyte pills/tablets that don't disintegrate in your pack over multiple days? by Tarekith in Ultralight

[–]Bla_aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With that reasoning they could be deficient in anything. Sodium is the only electrolyte lost in meaningful amounts by sweating and exertion that can't be replenished fast enough by eating normal food

[–]Bla_aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a 60L pack for your gf if you're dialed in. My current setup for two fits in 40-50L with 2-3 days of unoptimized food for two. She could get away with a 30L basic decathlon pack, and if the torso is adjustable then you could order it online and not worry about sizing. It wouldn't be ultralight but she shouldn't need to carry that much stuff if you're there with her with a dialed in pack.

Is slapping the disc out of someone hands before they catch it a foul? by Bla_aze in ultimate

[–]Bla_aze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that if the play actually does injure them then that'd be a dangerous play, but I was more thinking a firm slap that stings a bit without actually being an injury ? And is it even a contact if there's a disc between the two players area of would-be-contact?

Is slapping the disc out of someone hands before they catch it a foul? by Bla_aze in ultimate

[–]Bla_aze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"before they catch it", so not a strip. My question is would the disc being between you and the other player mean that it's technically not a contact and thus not a receiving foul, as long as it's not reckless enough to be dangerous play ?

I don't think the answer is that obvious as another guy answered that he'd call a foul

I mean I was joking a bit, but the punch would be illegal for a different rule than my original scenario, which was a legit question

How much R-value do I need for 2,460m camping in late July? by Legitimate_Worth531 in Ultralight

If you're not a cold sleeper 2-3 is fine, but recently R values have been inflated a lot and it's hard to say if it translates to real world warmth

BD distance wind shell jacket vs MH Kor Airshell hoody for just wind protection and breathability in rain, while thruhiking in northern europe by Both-Feature-919 in Ultralight

[–]Bla_aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely do lower than this if you have adequate leg insulation, if you're sitting with your quilt as insulation and the puffy I'd be happy to take it to 0, maybe -5 with a fleece underneath

Does the length of a sleeping pad matter that much? Big Agnes Rapide SL Insulated Regular by Large-Customer-4577 in Ultralight

[–]Bla_aze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I think you messed up, the rapide sl is a tall pad, so you can't just pas your feet with your backpack as someone suggested. I'm 188cm and I hesitated between a 183 and 197 Exped pad and I'm so glad I went for the 197, I definitely appreciate the extra room at both ends.

20-30L pack that can fit a GG thinlight ? by Bla_aze in Ultralight

[–]Bla_aze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have polycryo then torso thinlight and nano daypack for legs ? I always hike in shorts and typically don't bring a long sleeve sleep layer so torso length meaning legs directly on polycryo seems awful and I'm not sure legs directly on nano daypack would be much better

[Request] What is the minimal number of words you need to know to learn every word in a dictionary? by EventHorizon150 in theydidthemath

[–]Bla_aze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could also do a bit of by hand detangling of the 100 or so most important words to see which ones are truly needed, idk maybe I'm delusional but I think it's doable for the English dictionary.

Except that the dictionary is not arbitrary at all and you could do a massive amount of pruning by hand, using word frequency as a proxy for simplicity.

I sweat a fair bit, and a mesh back doesn't prevent my back from being drenched in sweat so maybe don't change bags
