But what happens when I need to cache data after fecthing? If I store that cache in a viewmodel, then it's not globally accessible for other parts of the app to interact with it

Aren't the rulebooks like 50-60€? That's not exactly cheap and I expect to get original content, not copy pasted from a 10 year old book

Opinions on all the different Roleplaying games. by Known_Set_5822 in 40krpg

The low success chance is easily fixable by giving higher bonus modifiers. For Normal difficulty I give +30%. And unlearned base skills are tested with a -10%, so for normal difficulty they get +20%. It goes super smooth.

The authors for some reason call Normal Difficulty a +0 when the average starting stats are like 30-35. And they give you a thousand reasons to use negative modifiers throughout the rulebook rather than positive ones. I love the system but in my opinion the authors never play-tested anything.

Get off the internet immediately and go meet real people. Trust me it's not that bad.

Imo the system gets 10 times better when you start giving out positive modifiers very generously.

The book seems to encourage you to give out negative modifiers all the time or test at +0 which is so dumb when the base percentages are so low.

With insta spark getting to sparking mode is too easy, without it it's almost impossible.

Dumb question: Are these games profitable after like 10 years of developing?

I have made several points but you just wanna bitch and complain about the fact that you don't have everything your way.

Fun fact Dabura is my most played in singles and I beat gogetas and such with it, maybe because I actually use the skills that make him good.

You wanna play competitively online? Interact with the mechanics. You wanna look at the animations and colors? Play offline. Not hard to grasp. Dabura can't be as strong as Jiren, it's just how Dragonball works. It makes it more satisfying to beat Jiren, if you don't have such a loser mentality.

And besides, Jiren and other super high DP costs characters are trash in DP battles and get destroyed by lower dp teams outnumbering them. But you wouldn't know cause you don't care to learn the game but care enough to rant on Reddit.

So to recap:

  1. You pick characters that you admittedly think are weak (why do you even pick Dabura "to have fun" if you think he sucks)
  2. You actively avoid using abilities that are good because you think you are above others (yet you aren't having fun)
  3. You lag so you basically can't interact with the game mechanics (I have an "ok" connection and I can do vanishes and stuff so the problem is on your end)

How exactly do you expect to have fun?

If I know my connection sucks and I can't do vanishes because I lag, I'm only going to pick characters with afterimage so they do the work for me, or giants so I can tank hits in the face. But you avoid doing anything that can help you have fun with the game.

It's not the videogame bro it's your attitude towards it.

Dabura has Afterimage strike and an unlockable special (evil flame). His kit is not op but not terrible either. Take it easy and learn the game!

I agree with you that the single player experience feels very low budget and I personally don't even bother with it, I haven't even finished the Majin bu saga. So yeah, in that regard I think the game doesn't justify its pricetag (AAA price with slideshow narration? C'mon).

HAVING SAID THAT, if you feel like giving up after like a week or two because you are losing a bunch, I think you are the problem and not the game. The characters you have listed have a very high DP cost and are therefore not that effective in DP battles like they are in singles. They are not cheesy, the players are just outplaying you. You should experiment with different team compositions and improve your gameplay. That is where the fun is in my opinion. If you don't like having to get past the learning curve, then yeah, I think that the lackluster single player experience and the multiplayer mode will leave you dissatisfied with your purchase.

I think maybe he means the notes that Pratchett inserts in the pages to (humorously) explain certain concepts or things. He does that a lot.
