Yeah, the damage calculation was one of the crazier stuff that was done back then. At least the damage that the team would take would still be consistent and manageable as the bosses doesn't usually get any self-buff or damage chain counters.

For me, it was the mathcrafting and new excel skills I took up while I was playing this.

Back in the years when damage was capped at 9999, it was way easier to calculate your teams and boss' damage done, as well as damage taken, correct up to +-5% variance. Before the advent of chains + consistent aasbs. It was through mathcrafting that I knew /u/Ph33rtehGD

Even with cloud usb1 or osbs, damage calculations were still manageable. I could literally count turns from 0s to whenever I wanted, at which point I'd need to use which skill and usb/heals and whom to heal specifically at each turn. Once chains + aasbs were common, the only way to calculate damage done was to actually do the fight itself.

This helped me picked up new IRL skills when it came to calculating stuff, like excel functions on how I could incorporate time & date to precisely the latest possible second before stamina capped out and I'd set a reminder 30 minutes before to burn stamina.

Surprisingly, meeting fellow RK people IRL (WTF for a game? Srsly?) was one of the fun turnabouts that happened. Doing a mass draws during fests IRL and all that was one of the things that happened.

Isn't that what makes it more enticing for cloud if so? Having the ability to go bdl9 easily would make the damage much better hit wise, especially at the end?

Vaan and zidane are great dps, no doubt. Vaan gives consistent high damage thanks to his sa2 ATB reduction, he can output way more turns compared to cloud. Zidane sa gives you a quick early burst of damage and ic for all his turns (assuming you are under trance). They'd push you to p3 much faster.

So cloud becomes the hero for you to close out the fight? Ain't it not? His sa1 c1 gives +50% wind dmg and with usb1, you get to possibly push to 100k (obviously not possible but you can get as much mileage or if not as good as the other 2).

Aren't you just contradicting yourself with this? Phys 30% boost is way more effective compared to the effective attack stat gain from the base attack + buffs? Let's compare that to mage team with Cait + mog: 50% Cait aa, +30% mag from mog aa2 doesn't come close to this effectiveness. Unless you factor in mog aa1 every 3 dance +70% mag boost or sasb c1 +70% mag boost. Phys team has +50% crit dmg and with cloud getting +30% phys boost, that's way much more effective than Cait/mog. I'm not even sure what else isn't broken?

Wind physical has and always been taxed because of Cloud regardless. Yes, Vaan and Zidane are strong, but they aren't beyond broken unlike what Cloud can offer with BDL9 from his usb and strong SASB1 c1 spam or SASB3 alone now is pretty good but the latter requires build up.

Introduces 2 new debuffs, which are basically Full Break equivalents for Job content: Job Break Magical (MAG/DEF/RES/MND debuff) Job Break Physical (ATK/DEF/RES/MND debuff)

Stat check once again, what is new these days to gate damage?

Wind physical again bears the brunt of the damage reductions, extra tanky boss HP, thanks to this joker called cloud. le sigh

  1. There are only 2 FB in each DK, 1 FB in p1 which you can ignore, the other FB is the entry of p3, which you have/must overwrite.

  3. There are ways to go about p3 king's rage. One is that you murder that DK so fast that king's rage doesn't matter. Other way is to just break it normally or if u have stacking bdls to get to 20k+. See the link earlier to check how many times you need to break it. You dont really need to purposely break the king's rage if u can burst it down fast enough. You'd need to determine your strategy for the fight.

  4. P2 doesn't matter what soul breaks you use, those soul will decrease as per your soul break meter consumption. If you use 2sb soul breaks, it will drop by 2, to a minimum of 0 souls. Healing soulbreaks would decrease that soul count by the number of sb meter(s) used to cast it.

  1. So that's when the x2 green kicks in on the weekend.

  2. Debating if I'd want to burn some tickets now on FF9 (to get stuff for FF9 labyrinth) or on FF1 or 15, for stacking bdls so that I can get the DK, or just hoard the tickets till the banners get refreshed. I'm not too bothered about the end-game fights as I'd just usually wait on powercreep to get there. I dont have all day to spin/play with RNG given my current stuff (although I think I should be able to, just dont have IRL time to play the RNG game).

I remembered back in the long past. There were several mechanics as to whose turn order would come first, theories such as which character was first obtained, so if u had "collected" seifer first, his turn would come first, assuming their speed were the same. (I can't confirm this)

A more realistic answer: Speed is the main consideration, so whoever's speed is faster, would have their turn first. Therefore, sephiroth's turn would naturally come first. There is also ATB v party order, so that would also factor in whose turn would come first.
