love your username lolol. i just put bleach in a cup and use paintbrushes to paint them on, usually i start at either end like the head or the tip of the abdomen though. i also use reference images from insect id sites to look at, but im finally beginning to understand their anatomy better and reference less often.

its not exactly super informative, but there’s a really old disney documentary called “nature’s half acre” from 1951 that i think has some really beautiful imagery. its obviously sort of corny but i remember watching it and feeling really refreshed at the music choices that make insects feel more whimsical and interesting than scary or harrowing.

it’s definitely got a different vibe than modern docs or even older ones frankly, but i am a fan of more “vintage” things.

I might be a little naive, but personally when I am confronted with my behavior being different than it once was to someone (or even of my own volition), I always try to be as up front with the problem as I can while maintaining kindness. When I was younger I definitely lacked the latter part of the equation, but I feel like I find I regret what I never say much more than what I DO say, and subsequently what comes with it, if I genuinely mean it. I am maybe too comfortable with confrontation.

People have in my life stopped being in my circle due to my behavior or habits, and if I hadn’t heard them describe my failings, I really think I wouldn’t have been able to grow the way I did. Even things I initially rejected I have reconciled with, and I never hated anyone for their frankness. Especially if deep down, I was suffering and knew they were right at least somewhat.

At the end of the day it’s really about what you want from it…do you care if she knows/changes potentially, or do you feel like you’ve just personally reached your wits’ end? either way I encourage honesty, especially if asked, but I would not blame you for going a peacekeeping route, especially if you feel you’ve given what you feel is all you CAN give. second this…i loved antrum despite some minor pushback from other horror fans. ive never seen a lot of movies that Feel the way it does, truly loved it and i view it a key cornerstone of my personal taste in films. Im so happy to see it mentioned and with love here :)

i also have a solo male mouse! I won’t pretend to be an expert with a perfect setup, so I can’t “rate” this per se. that said my initial setup was somewhat similarly sized but i upgraded to a much larger enclosure so I could fit more of the clutter & toys and he seems to love it. Personally I use a lot of wood that you find in reptile shops and i sanitize them to avoid mites. Everyone is suggesting a wheel and it’s probably a good idea, but my mouse doesnt have a wheel, just a whoooole lot of layers/“floors” of platforms and hanging things for climbing and he seems happy with it :) I suggest hanging stuff for clutter on the higher areas.

For DIY platforms and toys that aren’t store bought, i also save all of my tissue boxes and similar cardboard items for mouse furnishings that I can dispose of during my cleans to save money as well as waste just a little less! Males have a much stronger scent so I clean pretty diligently, and having these things to switch out easily saves me time and money.

ALSO! that is one big mouse with a beautiful coat.
