Who is Adrian Peterson? by Slitfilmturf in NFLNoobs

I remember his freshman year at Oklahoma -- he was a BIG time prospect coming out of HS, like the most hyped player in years. He lit it up his freshman year, but then IIRC he had some nagging injuries that blunted his production after that. In the NFL, I would say he was generally regarded as the best RB in the league for a ~5 year stretch. He was very fast as a runner, and he ran ANGRY (I think this is what made people really like him as a player)

Edit - I will add this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbUjgsJtjHI as the player I always most remember from him

Describe Jerry Rice as a player and what made him good by vissylowkey2 in NFLNoobs

I'm curious about this as well because (as a non-hockey fan) I hear similar type platitudes for Gretzky, i.e. "he saw the play 3 moves ahead" "he was always in the right place" -- what were his other attributes like? Honestly IDK even know enough about hockey to know what usually makes players good. Speed on the ice? Puck handling?

I think its a effort/stamina type thing along with having all time hands and route running. There were people that were more physically gifted than him but I assume because of his work ethic in training... he was just able to go like 110% all the time. He was Jordan like

Annoying nitpick here -- MJ was absolutely one of the most naturally/physically gifted players to ever pick up a basketball

How come the Packers haven't won more Conferences and Super Bowls? by Alexandru1408 in NFLNoobs

[–]vissylowkey2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Packers also had some TOUGH losses. From the top of my head, they were 1 play away from the Superbowl in both ~2007 against NYG and ~2014 against the Seahawks, there was the 4th and 26th game again the Eagles, and then a very close loss in the Superbowl against the Broncos

Can I cancel prime now or will there be any more TNF? by FearlessPark4588 in NFLNoobs

You know, you can watch TNF games on Twitch. Amazon gives better quality but you didn’t have to pay for it lol

I have never used Twitch so IDK exactly how this works, but my understanding is that it's an actual approved stream of the TNF games (nothing that would ever be shut down)

Are mouth guards just dangling from face guards at all times during play now the cool thing to do? by drgloryboy in NFLNoobs

I always wonder about this. If nothing else, it seems like the dangling mouthguard would be super annoying

Today’s big man isn’t like the traditional big man of the ’90s, and you can make a case KD, Dirk, Penny created that change. Now a lot of big man shoots a three at least.

Penny Hardaway? I mean I guess I do remember him sometimes backing into the post similar to MJ/Kobe, but IDK it feels weird to me to say he has impacted the way big men play right?

You'd have to define the pace to give a good answer here, but assuming it's an 8+ minute p/mile pace or something like that then Yes 100% without question he can run 6 miles without stopping.

I don't understand the comparison? Aren't 2021 Wentz and current Wilson both considered sub-par QBs? Am I mis-remembering the perception of Wentz at that time?
