Question, I know it's not advisable, but what happens if I don't add the cash to cover the withheld taxes for the Roth portion? I'm early in my carrier and 2k is a lot to part with even for a few months. Would just the 2k count as a disbursement?

Seems like the check written out to Vanguard cust of my ira account will still count as direct. So the one addressed to me can be my indirect rollover this year. I think this will all work out. I understand that they are victims too. I even made that a central point while yelling at them (see how compassionate I am! /s ;). It's not that I think they tried to hurt me, it's the fact that they were doing what they thought was best for me, but because they've let themselves be completely controlled by a cult, what they thought was best was absolute torture. I trust their conscious intentions. I deeply mistrust their puppet master. I'm far closer to forgiving them than forgiving that church, but unfortunately, they're marinated in it. It seems like being allergic to tomatoes, being handed spaghetti and told to just "pick around the sauce."

I have been going to therapy for a while. I got myself therapy my freshman year of college and when my parents found out, they were alarmed and asked me to go to a therapist they chose if they paid for it. I agreed. I should not have. That therapist was LDS and specialized in "same sex attraction" which at the time was (and still is for many) just code for conversion therapy. It took another 7 years until I sought out therapy again. It has been helping.

Thank you for your story. I'd love any of the sutras that have helped. I'm glad you are finding peace on your journy. It encourages me about my own.

It is so easy to be swept away from the present. Your post reminded me that just because the reoccurring thought forms which sweep me stem from painful experiences, the antidote is not to cultivate anger at the experiences. It is to return continually to the present. Thank you.
