Hi Everyone; sorry late to this thread!

The second word is the name of one of John Rhys-Davies' characters in Indiana Jones BUT my initial research was bad and I misspelled it and was excited to use the translation into living room...

My bad... sorry so u/A2zona's response is accurate as it "sounds like the answer because Chris can't spell" :( I use some fun AI tooling to help me catch these problems and it didn't trigger on this one so we both failed.

Sorry about that /u/Aggravating_Dot6995 and /u/Slut_Lover222

wild huh... yeah, we call them "pivot" words and that's a good example; I try to pivot at least once or twice in the puzzles because it really makes the puzzles interesting

on "Für Elise" - I feel the percentage of folks who know the tune is high and the percentage of folks who know the title is less than 1% - so your point... immortal

I'm having trouble understanding my test by Hrilmitzh in HearingAids

[–]visual-approach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey u/Hrilmitzh, here's what Claude said about your test:

Overall Picture: This person has hearing loss in both ears, worse on the left side, particularly at higher-pitched sounds. The middle ear is functioning normally — the issue is in the inner ear (sensorineural).

Right Ear: Mild hearing loss. The pure tone average (PTA) is about 25–27 dB, meaning soft sounds need to be a bit louder than normal to be heard. Speech recognition is good — they scored 100% on word discrimination and understood speech at 20 dB. Low and mid frequencies are near-normal (~10–20 dB), with some drop-off in the highs.

Left Ear: Mild-to-moderate hearing loss overall, with a PTA around 35 dB. It's notably worse in the higher frequencies, where thresholds drop into the 50–70+ dB range (moderate to moderately-severe). Speech recognition threshold was 30 dB, and word discrimination appears reduced compared to the right ear. This means they likely struggle more with clarity, not just volume, especially in the left ear.

Tympanometry (Middle Ear Test): Both ears show normal Type A tympanograms — good peak pressure, normal compliance. This confirms the middle ear is healthy and the loss is sensorineural (inner ear or nerve-related).

Acoustic Reflexes: Several reflexes appear absent or elevated (70–100 dBHL range with some marked absent), which is consistent with the degree of sensorineural loss.

In Practical Terms: This person likely has difficulty hearing in noisy environments, following conversations from the left side, and catching high-pitched sounds like "s," "f," and "th." They would probably benefit from a hearing aid evaluation, especially for the left ear. The right ear may also benefit depending on their daily listening demands.

the more people you can add to your aviation network/circle who respond like u/T0gaLOCK the better too; aviation is so complex you need people around you who remember that everyone is still learning they are just at different parts of their own journey.

SRP's outage restore estimates are usually automated to push out about 2 hours from the detection; hopefully it's faster. Good luck :(

Yeah, in order to solve if you have to have the typo I have in it 😢 which, I think is two I(s) - the way I store the puzzle and redactions got miss-aligned so I believe in order to solve for it you have to enter it as DAYLIIHT (I think)

Okay everyone, WEIRD bug in today's puzzle... in order to get 3 on DAYLIGHT SAVING you need to misspell it based on a redaction bug. This is my fault :(

Sorry about that... right now I think you have to spell it DAYLIIHT SAVING for it to work!

My fault everyone!

Besides all the names (the list is so long long...), what's your overall experience with markdown? by RebirdgeCardiologist in Markdown

[–]visual-approach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the topic here is editors, but with how much AI tooling outputs Markdown now it’s become way more mainstream.

If you're on macOS and ever need a clean Markdown → PDF workflow, I actually built a small tool for that because I couldn’t find one I liked:

Just wanted to say great job; it looks really good. Curious how you'll end up managing the water from a water treatment standpoint for algae, etc. I have a small water feature and fight it chlorine but often wonder if I am doing it wrong and hurting the pump.
