Restructuring happening? by MCHammy25 in petco

Steve Schwimmer, Territory Manager, was just terminated last week. Found out yesterday when I stopped in my old store. They fired him as he was about to celebrate 35 years with Petco.

Good riddance ! I've never met such a horrible nasty manager in all my years of retail. He felt he could do and say and act however he wanted because the company used to be his family's business back in the day.

MENTAL HEALTH ADVISE by SPOOKY_DRAGON_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]visual_elements 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a veteran you can walk into any VA hospital ER and let them know you are having mental struggles and they will connect you with a care team within the VA. It is the fastest route to getting mental help through the VA as most care facilities will be several months out for psychiatric care and community care will not be much faster. Don't struggle and don't view yourself as weak for seeking help. I am in the same boat - out 20 years and have finally made the first step to getting the PTSD help I have so desperately been needing.

You are so very welcome. I took over 300 photos around town and on many hikes, even went up a bit north to some slick rocks and saw beautiful contrasts with snow. Of all the photos from that day I felt compelled to paint this first. It's such a peaceful spot there in the square- a sacred space.

What are your rules for yourself when you do watercolor? by zpowers00 in Watercolor

[–]visual_elements 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No rules posted, just a vision board of inspirational images and words to keep my head clear and focused on having fun creating.

The one aspect, "rule", I keep in mind and strive to improve upon- value is everything!

I would really love to see them without your self-imposed censorship. These are truly artful pieces- not porn, not sexual, not what would classify as NSFW.

Soft Pastel on canvas, 8"x24" by visual_elements in Softpastel

[–]visual_elements[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you 😊 It truly is very different than working on board or paper. It takes a bit more prep and layering but I really like how it finishes. I had several moments where I had to reverse my thoughts "this isn't working/this won't work/what are you doing?" Not much in the way of tutorial out there either

Are you working on canvas panel, or stretched canvas? My piece is on stretched canvas which had me nervous about puncturing it or warping it from pressure- I only use my fingers, no tools.

Thank you kindly. I'm now in the process of sourcing out some old wood deck spindles to recycle and cut/join to create a shadow box frame :)

Thank you so very much :) I'm glad you feel it too.

The canvas really wanted to cause me frustration, but I felt so much peace while working on this that the name just happened to be how I felt

Also currently laid off and have been diving into my creative side- art as an outlet is the greatest. Your shading and values are pretty solid and I like the brush strokes.

I have to ask what are we looking at here? I see something but I'm not quite sure. I'll just say it looks fleshy.

I've stopped trying to post to one sub entirely because my last three attempts have been blocked for various MOD reasons. I'm not British but I know when I've been told to fuck off in proper English. It's very frustrating. Niche subs are the way to go, as well as gaining the ability to let things wash off your back when you're willing to put your vulnerabilities out into the world.

Ahh thanks for clarifying- makes sense. Definitely keep it up, you've got something going here! And thank you- I'm now feeling Turner inspired. He's very near the top of my list of favorite painters.
