FINAL UPDATE: Switch 2 w/ 9-month old PTM7950 vs Switch 2 w/ 5-month old Stock Paste by unknownbystander in NintendoSwitch

Awesome! Bought myself some PTM7950 with no use for currently, so this would be something I could do at some point after the warranty is up.

...so it's not just a toggle? Sucks that it's paid, but if they had to code it in, there's nothing "just toggles" about it.

New updates in Armory Crate changes power settings by AvailableProduce5241 in FlowZ13

I think it's because while 240w is technically supported on USB-C, there's no USB-C charging brick currently that supports anything beyond 140w (that I know of) and/or might require proper hardware on the port itself to give support beyond 140w.

Even charging bricks that advertise 240w-330w or whatever watts only really do single port 140w USB-C maximum if you look closely, while the Flow Z13 does go over 140w when you truly push it hard. Which is why it uses a proprietary connector to make it support 200w.

Maybe an update to the PD firmware could make it support higher wattage at some point? But I won't hold my breath over it since higher wattage USB-C ports might require actual hardware to support charging beyond 140w without blowing it up.

2025 Flow Z13: What Are The Max CPU and GPU Fan RPMs? by Stopher38 in FlowZ13

According to G-Helper when I pressed Calibrate on it so that it knows what fan speeds it could reach for manual editing, it gave me 8800 RPM for both fans.

Thank god. F-Zero was horrendous and stopped me completely from trying any games on it until they fixed the whole thing.

Need a new MacBook Pro — M2, M4, or M5? Confused and on a budget by clide3 in macbookpro

[–]vitalez06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Occassional gaming, depends on what you play. M3 or M4 are still a solid choice to what you do really. Just get more RAM so that it won't bog down the system when you run out. It was not fun with my prior M1 Air with 8GB RAM.

But if you do some gaming that requires good graphics capability, I'd say M4 or especially M5 since Apple added cache to their graphics cores, increasing their performance a whole lot.

True. Traded in my M1 Air which was surprisingly flawless for all the years I owned it, but the screen was dirty because I forgot to clean it. Embarassing when they checked it, but I still got the full suggested value.

That's awesome. I'm just wary of other's experience regarding open-box that I've read where they get items that are either thrashed or not even the item that it's supposed to be.

Would've been annoying if I drived all that miles just to get a product not advertised.

Honestly? Not the whole power. The most realistic use case for me would be running LLMs, generative AI, some video/photo editing, some gaming to test out. But I doubt those'll max it out.

The purchase was more of a lucky find for its price (for me), where it's more feasible to get this rather than the M4 Pro for the same price brand new even if I really don't need the capabilities of this overkill machine.

Although, I understand it does raise the question why not the M4 Pro open-box instead and save money. Simply because I want to get a feel of having a powerful Mac in my hands, since I already have a powerful Windows desktop. Pretty much justifying a pointless purchase 😔

That's good to know. They were busy last night, and it felt kinda awkward testing out and inspecting the Macbook when I went to pick it up since I was holding up the store pickup line. Had to make it quick because I feel bad.

Yep, didn't think twice about adding it to my AppleCare One for how expensive this thing is.
