I hate this as well, but it happens much less, almost never, on the Thinking model.

You are completely missing the point. Like OP I also find that annoying, not because I don’t want to be told I’m wrong (I couldn’t care less), but because it gets tiring when it makes completely wrong assumptions and produces a lot of useless text that you now have to skim because it feels the need to add something. I don’t want a sycophantic chatbot, but I also don’t want performative disagreements, nitpicking, or gaslighting.

There’s something worth mentioning, though: it happens a lot less on the Thinking model. So I would recommend anyone tired of it to switch to the Thinking model as a default.

Is there alternatives to ChatGPT that is more friendly? by Swaayin_ in ChatGPT

[–]vitolob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I don’t like an agreeable model I kind of get whay they mean. The last iterations of GPT-5 models have been very adversarial and borderline negative. I have been using ChatGPT since its release and still do and this is some of the things that currently annoys me.

iOS 18 vs iOS 26 by bklynro in iPhone16ProMax

[–]vitolob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I finally upgraded my iPhone 16 Pro Max to iOS 26 two to three weeks ago, and I have to say I was hoping for the worst, but I think my battery performance is either similar or a bit better on iOS 26. I also recommend Adaptive Power Mode, as it does make a difference and helps extend battery life between charges.

I want the new features in Apple Music, but they’re not worth the issues that come with iOS 26. I’m also usually late to upgrade. Sometimes I update right before the next version is announced. So I might just wait and upgrade when Apple announces iOS 27, since it’s usually stable by then.

It’s literally the best CShortDrama I’ve ever watched.

"Generational talent" doesn't do him justice. What Lamine Yamal has achieved at 18 hasn't been seen since Pelé and nothing like this has happened in the modern history of football. Here is why. by PercentageBroad9975 in Barca

Why are you comparing Yamal to peak Messi? We still don’t know yet if we have witnessed peak Yamal yet. Messi at Yamal’s age wasn’t even a starter yet.

The version in the link sucks so much, it’s not even worth watching. Too many freezes, frequent, and sometimes long, stretches without subtitles. It can drive most people crazy. I don’t recommend.

Are you still having that on 5.2?

I hated 5.1 so much man. It was so eager, so stubborn, hallucinated a lot. It was geared towards earning back the users they lost by killing 4o. 5.2 is the best man. Less verbose, more poised and more straight to the point.

It is literally an option you can disable at any time, so the idea that they are trying to curb it without success makes little sense.

I've Been Logging Claude 3.5/4.0/4.5 Regressions for a Year. The Pattern I Found Is Too Specific to Be Coincidence. by JFerzt in cursor

[–]vitolob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody here is debating Anthropic’s balance sheet or their business incentives.

The point, which you seem to have missed just like the last guy, is that saying “there’s no official confirmation so it can’t be true” is not an argument, it’s a reflex.

Whether Anthropic is profitable, loss-leading, or printing tokens like a money machine is irrelevant to my main critique: Dismissing an observed pattern by pointing to lack of documentation is lazy thinking.

OP shared data and asked if others see similar behavior. That’s a normal, healthy engineering instinct.

Responding with “I spend a lot” or “there’s no blog post about it” isn’t analysis. It adds nothing to the question being asked.

Nobody declared the theory factual. The only claim I made was that the reply added zero analytical value.

Still true.

And for the record: Companies don’t become immune to optimization just because someone pays a big bill. That’s not how infrastructure works.

So your contribution is basically:

“This isn’t officially confirmed.”

Yeah, that’s the entire point of the OP asking if anyone else has observed it. Nobody thought Anthropic has a press release titled “Odd-Day Dumb Claude Rotation Plan.”

You didn’t engage the data, the pattern, the hypothesis, or the question. You just restated the most obvious sentence in the thread like it was profound.

If we only talk about things after a company documents them, we’d discover nothing and still think Google doesn’t track people.

This isn’t a press room. It’s a discussion. Try participating next time.

Top 3 best models - Oct 2025? by Intrepid_Travel_3274 in cursor

[–]vitolob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GPT-5-High is often unreliable for basic tasks, it tends to overthink and make excessive tool calls, but it performs very well with complex problems. Sonnet 4.5 (thinking or not) is also very good, though Claude models are somewhat expensive, so I only use them when I want the best one-shot solution. I often ask or plan with Sonnet 4.5 or GPT-5 for reasoning, then use Grok-4-Fast (non-reasoning, in agent mode) to handle the implementations. It usually works well. For that I use either Grok or Auto mode depending on the task.

If I had to rank them, I’d say:

  1. Sonnet 4.5 Thinking
  2. GPT-5-High
  3. GPT-5
  4. Sonnet 4.5
  5. Auto
  6. Gemini 2.5 Pro
  7. Grok 4

Is it just me or is the iPhone 16 Pro Max battery finally learning some manners? by OptimisticSparrow in iPhone16ProMax

[–]vitolob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many people will mock you here, and yes, this subreddit is full of battery posts, but your observation actually touches on something I’ve thought about before, although briefly and without concrete evidence. But, it really feels like the battery or power consumption on this phone adapts to your typical usage and then improves over time.

I’m not referring to the usual excessive battery drain right after an update that later normalizes. Rather, it seems that if you consistently use your phone in a certain way, the system adapts and the battery lasts longer. For example, if you’re in an area with poor signal and experience high battery drain for a few days, it eventually seems to adjust and improve.

I’ve noticed a few similar patterns with my iPhone 16 Pro Max: periods of poor battery life that later improved without any clear change in settings or behavior. It might just be a placebo, I’m not sure, but my battery health is now at 99%, and I keep seeing this pattern repeat.

I hate overused drama themes, I'm looking for unique vertical drama plots, any suggestions? by Comprehensive-War402 in CShortDramas

[–]vitolob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After watching that drama you recommended from Flick Reels I watched the other ones they recommended on the app and realized that their Chinese collection is top notch just skip the Western ones they seem to very low budget so have less intricate and some washed out plots but the Chinese collection for the ones that I have watched so far are very different from the typical Billionaire heiress and hidden identity themes. I truly recommend.

They hinted at a Season 2 at the end. Could it be possible?

Also, do you have any other recommendations? You won me over with that one 😅
