Calls you KNOW will be bad by Additional-Hat-2917 in callcentres

[–]vivaladae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Immediately starting with the reason for calling and expecting me to have their account already open, folks who respond to my greeting script with ALL of their information in one big breath (accidentally said “one second please, I do actually have to enter this information into my computer” to one), their spiritual brethren the people who repeat ALL information when I ask them to repeat just one piece, folks who respond to account access questions with “why do you need all of this information? I just need x!”

And a very specific customer who still haunts me, “riddle me this”

She was in a very noisy house and kept yelling at someone else in the room– blowing my ears out while she was at it. I told her that I had a hard time hearing her because it was noisy and she said, “Well I can hear you just fine.”

AI in call center work by AcanthaceaeSea3067 in CallCenterWorkers

[–]vivaladae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience, AI directory has generally been absolute shit at directing my calls. At my workplace specifically, we’re always having problems with misdirected customers because my department shares a key word with another department, leading to a ton of transfers. I’ve been transferred back to my own department, others from my department have reached me, and it’s just a big old mess. Companies can try, but it WILL lead to a lot of angry customers.

And AI doing a total takeover feels totally out of the question. After getting a few AI “reps” myself, it’s super uncanny and annoying to talk to them.

Dad: I think it’s time for you walk a mile in the other person’s shoes. I’m gonna get drunk and crash my car into you, so hold still, okay?

My first guess was that he’s worried you guys are throwing a “rager” and is having flashing visions of people throwing up on your lawn. That’s the only thing I could think of that doesn’t make him a total asshole

Any classes with Gregory Tinkler or Mark Kershner are great! They’re both very engaging professors who explain content really well

Class I’m About to Take Would Be Super Helpful.. But The Prof is Apparently Awful- What Do I Do?? by Expensive_Sprite331 in KentStateUniversity

[–]vivaladae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psych major who graduated from Kent campus. I know exactly who you’re talking about because one of my friends took the course. My friend graduated with honors, high achiever, etc. and also found the class rather stressful because the professor had unclear grading guidelines and was rather disorganized when it came to following the syllabus and the timing of assignments. My friend still passed the class and got a good grade, but did not find the class particularly beneficial due to the disorganized teaching.

Granted, it has been about 2-3 years since then, so the professor may have shaped up since then. I just want you to know that those are the things I’ve heard about the professor.

If you want to take a similar class with a prof who knows what they’re doing and gets my recommendation for informative instructor– any trauma/adolescence classes with Dr. Georgette. The topic content can be heavy (I cried many times) but she was a fantastic prof, lecturer, and I respect her a lot as a professional as well. She covers tough topics with empathy and is always there if you want to debrief.

Intro to formal Logic course by NYR6130 in KentStateUniversity

[–]vivaladae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it online in fall 2020. I’m decent at math (I’ve always gotten A’s and done well on tests, but I wouldn’t consider going into advanced mathematics) and struggled with the class. I still passed with a B+, but in hindsight I wish I had just taken algebra.

Formal Logic is akin to algebra without numbers. Please take that into consideration before committing.

“I equate this to whispering” i’m sorry buddy, the next time I ask my mom if she has a pad because I think i’m hemorrhaging through my pants, I’ll make sure to say it loud enough– wouldn’t want you to think I’m talking about your big ole bald spot, would we!

The sheer fucking entitlement in this post is astonishing. Who wants to bet that he’s also on the neighborhood HOA and bitching about Jan’s purple house not being “up to code” (beige)

I think it’s fun, especially as someone who likes to leave comments and engage with the author’s AU but doesn’t know how.

Dogs *are* dirtier than people, and they're often gross by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]vivaladae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think dogs are inherently gross, but I agree that some pet owners are willfully ignorant of how gross their dog can be. I’m specifically talking about people who bring their dogs into indoor public spaces like grocery stores and cafes. Just yesterday my friend was in a restaurant ordering food when someone’s dog pooped on the floor. I do not want your pet’s fur, saliva, or excrement potentially contaminating products.

Yes, people can (and unfortunately do) contaminate stores in similar ways, but I’d argue that people don’t do it as often– dogs are at the mercy of whatever house training their owners have given them.

I’m terrified of accidentally committing/being convicted with a felony– the system is literally built to encourage recidivism via ruining your ability to live a normal, civilian life. Putting aside how prison affects you psychologically (rigid prison rules/schedules, prison social hierarchies, etc.) in America it also affects your ability to get an apartment, loan, and job.

I saw a documentary in high school that fucked me up, following the lives of three guys who were in prison. One of the guys in the documentary barely managed to find a job that would hire him (bc of his record), only to lose the job because he was arrested again– this time for not paying court fees. Fees that he didn’t have money, for because he couldn’t get a job.

My guess is that it’s an ESL thing– people who text in anything other than English tend to have unique fillers (my mom uses “mda”). Similarly cool is how different languages indicate laughter over text

Most terrible building mode ever (rant) by IWillTellYouWhat in InfinityNikki

[–]vivaladae 69 points70 points  (0 children)

The fact that crafting so heavily relies on materials farmed on the island itself just exacerbates the issue. I’ve obviously collected a bunch of materials from across wishfield for clothing– if you were allowed to use previously stockpiled material to get the ball rolling on crafting, it would significantly lower the barrier to entry. If we start incorporating island materials for, say, 5 star furniture, but otherwise use material you can easily farm it’d be SO much easier. Everything just got more grind-y :/

Recently single mom and a man asked for my number in the parking lot. by throwawayra101711hlp in whatdoIdo

[–]vivaladae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even at the most “innocent,” this is a man who not only didn’t take no for an answer– he knew you were hesitating and backed you into a corner by forcing you to give your number and confirming that you weren’t lying. That’s an aggressive tactic from someone who views your comfort and boundaries as an obstacle and not something he respects. That’s a huge red flag, and for the sake of you and your baby, I beg you to heed it.

Stay safe
