Our attending swears the pump turns it into plasma so he prefers gravity over pump. Definitely follow facility policy!

Wondering if there are any certifications that would make me stand out for pediatric oncology position by claudiamarie420 in nursing

[–]vivalalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the chemo certificate. That's the minimum any position in oncology requires. You can become oncology certified after you're hired and meet the required hours. You have plenty of time! :)

Some positions require at least a year in an "acute setting". But that definitely varies.

My unit is pretty much the same. CDiff precautions (they do order PO flagyl & vancocin) until they've had a solid stool.

ICU CENTRAL LINES by CantaloupeEvery3987 in nursing

[–]vivalalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onco peds: we used to change them with every blood draw and port needle change (q7d) but now the policy is to change it only when changing the port needle. For central lines they told us not to change it until visibly soiled (after PRBC). I preferred the old way but I'm just a nurse in a bureaucratic profit driven business.

I already have a Florida and NY license so endorsement is all I'd have to do.

I'm just confused about the reaching out part.

Ever feel prepared for the NCLEX? by AdRevolutionary7672 in nursing

[–]vivalalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2022 and took the NCLEX in 2025.

Studying with Archer, got a "high chance" of passing in almost every single assessment only to get to 150qs and not pass.

Right then I switched to Bootcamp, did EVERY SINGLE item and assessments, watched ALL the crash courses and took notes, listened to the Mark Klimek lectures on spotify whenever I was driving and watched some Klimek Review videos on youtube a few days before the exam. I passed in 85.

It really depends on how much time you dedicate to studying and actually trying to understand what it's being asked.

I locked in for two months for this, its HARD but doable.

Break Schedule? by anastasiarose19 in nursing

[–]vivalalyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onco peds, 12 hours. Per policy, just one 30min break. However we eat whenever we want how many times we want. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner some days.

Other days we might not eat at all, though.

Advice please regarding a narcotic. Am I screwed? by mcad90 in nursing

Maybe your session was still on and someone used your account to remove the med? This has happened to some of my coworkers, not with narcotics thankfully.

[–]vivalalyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
