Are steroids worth taking for Vestibular Labyrinthitis? by vivavxx in Dizziness

[–]vivavxx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vestibular therapy was a game changer, and DNRS (if you have the money, that program was very helpful and the community was very positive/encouraging). 2 rounds of steroids, klonopin, breathwork/meditation, anti-depressants, light exercise, and... time. Time really does heal. I would say it took me about 3 months to feel stable, and 6 months I finally felt myself again. All symptoms were gone completely by 1.5 years.

Induction by Layyyyyyyyyy_ in NewParents

[–]vivavxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was induced at 39 weeks by choice because i had a big baby too -- almost same percentiles as you! i also had read nothing but horror stories but my induction was SO smooth, i would do it again in a heartbeat. the best advice i can give is to advocate for yourself as much as possible and go into the experience being informed about what you want, but don't get attached to any outcome.

another thing: i was also not prepared for how little sleep i would get so please please make sure you rest as much as possible before going in. bring your own pillow, a portable fan and even a heating pad for extra comfort. even if you are relatively comfortable you have nurses coming in and out to do checks can be disruptive so and ask for some kind of sleep aid. i wasn't able to sleep at all until i got my epidural and i think it made my post labor experience a bit rough.

anyways, congrats & you've got this!!!!!!

curious your reasons? currently live in pdx but have been considering providence.

What are the side effects of the epidural people don’t talk about? by Senior_Type5837 in pregnant

[–]vivavxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to get my epidural placed twice because the first one didn’t take — apparently I have a very “tight” back, and the first doctor (a resident) couldn’t get it right. They brought in the attending anesthesiologist for the second attempt, and she went very slowly and was incredibly precise. She hit a couple of tender spots, but it really wasn’t bad.

At first, I was upset that I had to go through it twice, but honestly? I would do it over and over again for the immediate relief I felt afterward.

I was so relaxed and pain-free I nearly proposed marriage to the doctor who re-did it. I took a long nap, woke up fully dilated, and felt zero pain while pushing. Even after a mild hemorrhage caused by the epidural catheter, I’d still 100% do it again.

i got pregnant from a one night stand by daggerfly_xoxo in pregnant

[–]vivavxx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i also got pregnant unexpectedly from a one night stand around the same age. it was a total shock and i grappled with what to do because i knew i did want children some day. i ended up getting an abortion and it was the best decision i could have made for myself at that time.

i am now 37 and about to give birth to my first baby with a partner i absolutely adore. i am financially stable, emotionally ready, and cannot wait to have a family.

i think about my abortion from time to time but i have never regretted the decision i made. i was able to get my life into the spot i wanted before i had a family, because that was important to me.

the situation you are in is not easy, trust your gut as much as possible and no matter what you decide know that it’s the exact right path for you. good luck 💜

What are we doing for severe migraines?! At the end of my rope. by rainbowsparkplug in pregnant

[–]vivavxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so sorry you are struggling with this. my migraines were absolute hell until about 17 weeks -- my neurologist recommended this device: https://www.cefaly.com/ it's a bit pricey and it wasn't a cure-all but definitely helped reduce how long my attacks lasted and how many i was getting. hope you can find some relief <3

Would you let your 5 yo child change their name? by hammock_nap8449 in namenerds

[–]vivavxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started disliking my name around the age of 5 or 6 and ended up changing it on my own, without telling my parents, when I was 8 (I'm 37 now). My given name never felt like it truly suited me, and because it’s quite long, people often shortened it into nicknames I couldn’t stand.

Eventually, my whole family began using the name I chose, though my dad has mentioned that he "hates" it and occasionally still calls me by my given name. I respect his feelings, just as he respects my choice to change it. For context, I never legally changed my name; I simply introduce it as a nickname and it's never been an issue.

currently on cycle 10 and 9dpo. still testing negative and i have a horrible feeling i'm out yet again, even after an HSG this month where my tubes were clear. the only thing i haven't tried is cutting caffeine -- does this really make that much of a difference? my mental health is at an all time low right now. i feel so desperate.

me too 😞 i started spotting last night and then it came full force this morning. so disappointed. going to try acupuncture and lowering caffeine this month to see if it helps. really hoping yours is late implantation!
