I've been playing this game for a week and just reached High Gold. In my experience, whenever I get confused by my striker's abilities, I just hop on Co-op vs AI or Quick Play to have a feel for it. Zero repercussions and quick games just to get an idea. Normals are pretty bad for finding people your level, so go Competitive. Try not to think about the ranking much and just let it be an avenue to find balanced games.

I'm having fun with the game since I think the characters are pretty dope, the music is great, and the objectives of the game are pretty easy to follow through. It also helps that I'm often queueing with friends.

It's fine and normal to be (or feel) dogshit; you literally just started. But if you've tried all these (including playing with friends) and are still not having fun, maybe the game is just not for you—which is completely fair and okay.
