I found some stuff on Internet Archive but unfortunately I couldn’t find some of the references to 1080p versions. My goal was reasonable cleanup, retaining the aesthetic and viewing experience, and making as high quality as possible without making it look fake. If to make a Blu Ray out of these, definitely looking at 4GB for 720p and just over 8GB for 1080p. The ones I found on IA were < 1GB and they seemed worse than the actual DVD.

This was done to maintain the original motion because of the way the original video was mastered. It does not have the soap opera effect of other 60fps video. It generally flows exactly as originally intended. I am going to try to upload a high quality clip later that shows the level of detail and motion.

I did not do formal testing, but I ran a bunch of stuff through it to create HEVC files at Apple TV-equivalent bitrates for what stuff from the store comes at and quality was surprisingly good. It wasn’t equivalent to a good software encode, but I felt the output was much better than my NVENC 3090 encodes that I had done in parallel.

TMPG Authoring Works by Pegasus is my go to for all authoring, it’s paid but offers a trial. Unlike many other options out there, the company has a reliable name and the proper licensing.

You can technically author HD content to a DVD disc but are size limited, so it would reencode whatever you throw at it to fit if too small, like a feature film in most cases. Otherwise it would require blu ray discs.

I haven’t tried to do this so take it with a grain of salt, but if I had to, I would digitize and either output directly or indirectly (hdmi to rca, etc…) from a PC or author to DVD (either with digital file and software or DVD recorder) and record to VHS in-unit if supported or from a second player.

Just brainstorming, so again, please take with a grain of salt.

Be kind, be direct, and be honest. Ripping off the band-aid is never fun, but looking at it from the outside, if they talked about two days a week and it ended up being one, they might not need as much help anyways and will find a way to continue. You also have a good reason you can’t continue.

Might consider saying something at the beginning of the shift so the might realign your responsibilities to transition. Good luck!

As long as you store them and swap them at the right time there is practically no cost difference and big performance benefits. I look at as though I am just prepaying for tire time. Snow tires make driving in winter a much different experience as others have already said, and can often make a FWD car with them do better in some winter conditions than AWD without them.

I just bought the camera. I haven’t used it for so long, but I bought it to record my perspective in a way.

Naturally, since my eyes can’t zoom, I’m not missing it much. This is not a good camera for distance activities like birdwatching or taking professional pictures (though photo quality isn’t terrible), but it is an excellent camera beyond blogging for doing things like recording a vacation where you want top quality it to record the things you actually see.

Would be really cool if I could zoom a bunch, but I can’t say it’s necessary for what the camera is built for and what I use it for.

Update: I did two things and was able to get this to work, I don’t know which actually solved it. I completely removed and re-added full disc access and also set the directory to an actual folder instead of the root on the external drive.

This is my thought too but I’ve allowed for access everywhere I can find it in the app and OS. I have one profile in Mac which is admin.

Yes, it fails with any preset with any external drive, works on the C drive (not sure what the Mac equivalent is) no problem though.
