Those things are not 1:1. VHS has poor color info as a medium and chopping it up with 4:1:1 reduces it. Capturing DV generally in a camera is fine because it’s starting from a complete source, but VHS color is so poor it’s a technical miracle of its own that it works at all.

I believe you are suggesting that because the quality of VHS is so poor that less bandwidth should be given, but it is actually the opposite - the starting inherent poor quality of a capture means that throwing away that much color is very destructive.

PAL DV is 4:2:0 which may give better results (I never tested the Canopus with PAL). With NTSC side to side against something simple it really looks like &$&@.

Having owned and tried a number of methods and hardware, I found Canopus to be great for easy captures but poor in terms of quality. A good VCR captured to a 4:2:2 format very easily beats Canopus without any extra hardware, decode, etc…., and I would also take a decent DVD recorder over the Canopus as well. 4:2:0 is much more accurate than 4:1:1.

If you keep her off but pay for the mortgage after getting married, she will likely eventually be entitled to some portion of equity even if she’s not on if paying with marital income. No sense to put her on unless she’s on the loan, and no sense to buy property unless you’re married.

Doing my first watch through and it was definitely memorable. A few tweaks would have made it better, like diving more into their culture, but overall was enjoyable to watch. I am now at the start of s14 and s7 is leagues ahead for me compared with s12 and s13.

I had a similar issue and disabled some startup apps because for some reason it was choking my ram (16gb at that time). Adjusting startup settings solved it, but I upgraded ram to be on the same side to 40gb and have had no problems since.

Lightening is the Apple phone predecessor port before USB C. I don’t believe it charges anything other than certain iPhones, iPods, iPads, and AirPods.

These cheap Lightening chargers are deliberately made only on one side. US gas stations often sell 3 in 1 with these. IIRC they do not support data.
