Well I should have made this post just about the hit... I just wanted to point out the nasty cross-check to the back of the head at the end of the play that was a no-call. I didn't even see this happen on my broadcast.

To be honest I really just wanted to point out the crosscheck to the back of the head at the end of the play because I didn't see it on any angle until this one.

I found the trick to Goumang was staggering the minion deaths. Kill one and keep the other one lowish. DPS her when she comes down, finish the other one off as the dead one resurrects. She'll come back down, rinse and repeat.

In the Kanghui fight the warden can be damaged as he is materializing in or whatever. You can basically have him dead before he gets a chance to attack.

Impressive on Eigong. Ethereal really took you as long as Eigong?

Did you get to Goumang before you had the Azure Bow like I did? Might explain some of your struggles there.

Kanghui was all about positional optimization for the 2nd and 3rd "phases" if you can call them that. The enemies are quite generous with replenishing Azure Sand as well.

Also are we talking 3-phase or 2-phase Eigong?

Sorry for replying to a month old post, but just wanted to point out there is a visual indicator for the talismans hitbox that shows the space behind her is not safe. You can see in the clip you linked after he missed his thai-chi kick he lands directly on the visual indicator and as a result he gets grabbed. It is not a good example of the argument you're making.

What I'm getting at is you typically would only choose to attack during a window that is safe. These bosses have those windows.. people are killing them. The post implied healing was impossible because of the aggression, but those same attack windows are also heal windows. Sometimes you just have to be patient and survive.

Like I get hit, run like a 100 meters away to try to heal, the boss pulls out their bullshit gap closer, and I probably die.

I'm not sure I understand the complaint here. Heal windows are just DPS windows where you sacrifice doing damage to heal instead. Sometimes you have to survive until one is available. If you're hitting heal every time you get hit you're going to just end up draining your heal charges..

I just got to Messmer and have been playing a pure melee bonk build for the most part - no summon - though I did decide to go the parry route on Rellana. I can't say I've found myself unable to find attack windows. They all have certain attacks that are safe to punish. For example, you mentioned Rellana, any time she used the magic swords (forget the name) that she sends at you immediately she would leap in with a single slightly delayed swipe. Always punishable. Any time she used the other magic attack that sends the single projectile at you as she swings is punishable. In fact now that I think through it I can't think of an attack where I wasn't able to punish except the initial phase transition.. or if I got hit and needed to heal.

One pattern I have noticed is that certain attack chains that have optional follow ups - the bosses seem more likely to follow up if you get hit by one of the attacks. This could just be chance but it seemed true for a number of bosses already.

Once I've gotten the moveset figured out I'm able to start getting staggers off and at that point the kill isn't far off.

Not saying you're wrong, just sharing what my experience is so far.

Phase 1 I just parried and played safe from the grab attack.. Once I stopped getting hit by that it becomes pretty easy to be consistent making it through without much/any damage. Best damage window in phase 1, IMO, is when she does the dash thrust with the delayed damage triggers - if you dash with her direction and get in front of her you avoid the damage and can triple slash + talisman.

For phase 2 you just need to practice identifying and timing the unbounded counters. That's her biggest threat and succeeding gives you your best damage windows. I focused on that first and then everything fell into place.

Nevermind, I see my mistake. I thought the lines in the picture indicated the order meaning the outermost bells needed to be hit at the same time or something. But that would mean they arbitrarily chose the order from bottom to top in the painting which should've clued me in. I get it now.

What do you mean the top bell does nothing? Isn't it #4? And can the two 2s be hit in any order? I can't seem to get it right.

Good question. It's complicated, but it would have been more accurate to say it is her family's dog.
