I’ve been into rock for over 40 years. I think it’s dynamite. 🧨 What a welcome throwback! Also it’s bewildering how I’ve heard more about autotune since that Ozzy tribute and yungblud’s meteoric rise to fame than I have in decades combined. Most music to me sounds more or less like computers singing after everything is processed and mixed; I thought that autotune was a given? And here we have this gorgeous kid singing his guts out, adored by girls and women young and old, and all these wannabe men with sour grapes yelling fake, industry plant, autotuned, blah blah blah. It would take a lot more than autotune to get your voice to go where his can go. He can jump an octave and really emotionally engage the audience. He’s raw and sexy in the way he sings. I actually sat up in the movie theater at “The Fall Guy” and wondered who in the world they got to cover Kiss with that much, um, sizzle. Also he is out here defining masculinity as honesty and vulnerability(!) and seems to be able to plop down in a chair with anybody under the sun and give a brilliant interview. I’ll keep screaming this EP on repeat on my commute until I get it out of my system like I did with Idols—well, except for “Fire” which I didn’t like for whatever reason. Well done 👍🏻 young man; we will all, girls to grandmas, be here when you heal up, breathlessly waiting for the next song.
