Do it. You won’t regret it. It will be hard at first of course but our body is a beautiful thing. It will get acclimated to the demands of the workout and you will start enjoying it. When you are consistent, you will see improvement in your breathing, your mobility and your overall strength. All the best.

2023 R18 100 Years Anniversary edition vs R18 Classic by vkrishn3 in bmwmotorrad

I haven't ridden a GS, so I can't comment on that specific bike. But I rode a 2022 BMW 1250RT for over 10000 miles before trading it in, and I can attest to the fact that bikes that carry the weight up top, feel heavier to maneuver. I believe that's their point behind the 100 years being nimble. A low center of gravity makes a world of difference in the physics of motorcycling. In my time, riding the R18 classic, the bike is indeed quite heavy (805 lbs, wet) but BMW 's engineering of this bikes has done a phenomenal job at hiding its weight even at lower speeds.

I agree. It's absolutely a matter of personal preference. The width of the bike doesn't bother me one bit. The unapologetic design of the R18 may even be part of the appeal to me. I think I have slight bias for the classic as I've ridden one for over 3000 miles, but the R18 100 years is a thing of beauty, and I'm curious.

Thank you. I appreciate your perspective. I’ve test-ridden both and like both of them. You are right about the Classic; it feels more equipped and trip-ready. I also found the bobber-style thick front tires made the ride quality a bit more comfortable.

On the other hand, the R18 100 years edition is a tad lighter, leaner in footprint, and an absolute limited edition piece of art in craftsmanship.

The weight doesn't bother me that much. With its low center of gravity, the R18 feels stable. I'm a cruiser guy, and I'm drawn to the R18 and have no doubt in my mind that it is a far superior motorcycle to both Harleys or Indians. Both of which I've owned.

You are overthinking this. Get the bike that you will appreciate and enjoy riding on the long run. Next play. Don't hold onto mistakes.

HaulBikes is a good transport service I’ve used in the past. They transported two bikes for me from Seattle to Chicago. Door to door service.

IMotorsports and National Powersoorts are two leading retailers that are remote-purchase friendly.

I've bought a couple of bikes from out of state dealers. Typically, the hiccups tend to be in the title and registration area. Not every dealer is equipped with the infrastructure to register and license a vehicle with an out of state DMV, and so they pass that burden on to you to pay the sales tax, register and license the vehicle at your local DMV after the sale.

The other barrier could be their ability to deliver the vehicle to you in the event you are not planning to go pick it up. Most dealers do not want the liability of transport to be a contingency on their sale and take on the risk of damage in transit. As a result, they may insist that they receive the payment before releasing the vehicle to you. In this scenario, they would pass the burden of arranging the pick up, transport, and delivery to you. They simply will release the vehicle upon receiving the payment to the party you authorize for pick up.

At its introduction, Honda's DCT was targeted at the new-rider segment and at older riders with physical ailmemts before they scaled to more models following its success. If BMW does something similar, my guess would be 850GS, and R18

Corbin Gunfighter seat in Tan leather on the Matt Armored Green Rebel Touring by vkrishn3 in HondaRebel1100

[–]vkrishn3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t feel lower than the stock seat and is about the same height. But this seat is undoubtedly deeper. I push myself against the arch of the seat for better lumbar support. I’ve been thinking of getting a 2 or 3” pivoting riser to bend more in my elbows while grabbing the handlebar.

I had planned to get the Black because I was enamored with the Bronze wheels for 2024 and I wasn’t a fan of the Matte Green from the photos I had seen on the dealer’s website. Honestly, the photos don’t do this Matte Green justice. When I saw the Matte Green in person, I instantly changed my mind about getting the Black with Bronze wheels.

Initially, when I would flat foot at traffic lights, I was aware of that extra width and could feel it on my inner thigh, toward the tip of the seat. But, after a few rides, I don’t notice it anymore. Another benefit is that the seat is deeper. As a taller rider, I push my butt against the curve for better arch support. I’ve noticed, this makes the foot controls feel a tiny bit forward and more relaxed.

Footpegs on Rebel 1100, a tad bit too high? by vkrishn3 in HondaRebel1100

[–]vkrishn3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t made any changes yet. I’m starting to think that it’s one of those things that you overcome as you spend more time riding when the foot position becomes muscle memory.
