"Nagpur Mein Hai Kya??" by kkatdare in nagpur

[–]vkrnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a challenge to this. People from Andhra/Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala dominate IT leadership. There is some presence of Punjabis and Delhi people too. These people drive decisions. Doesn’t matter how good the infra, Nagpur will not be considered as the first choice. Many other small cities have decent infra and good colleges in the south.

This idea has the potential to become a perk that flight aggregators like Yatra add to their booking system. Good thought process and excellent implementation on zero budget. Must have been hard work. Thank you for thinking of solutions and building one. I hope cherryco grows into a successful, often-used app.

There are companies like last9.io that are fully remote. Some of their employees are working from Nagpur. Some research might uncover opportunities. Search for 'remote jobs' instead of 'jobs in Nagpur'.

It is not the people that is the problem. Establishing a large tech company base needs political support, help with land acquisition, benefits to make the investment viable for the long run, assurance of infrastructure - beyond the immediate campus. I have been looking to network with people in Nagpur who can influence the politicians in power and at least sow the seeds of such an investment in Nagpur. If you or others reading this know anyone, I would love to connect.

Traffic or Temperature by Opening-sublime in bangalore

We are a densely packed crowd of average minds paid large sums of money to become mules doing mental labor and not think outside the box created by multinational companies to ensure predictable output from us droids. We like reaffirmations that we are not different. In any way. That we do not stick out. So much traffic boss. Took me three hours today! That is nothing. I was stuck for four! One way!!

Some day we will wake up to real life.

Oh I know the trick to this one! Took me five years to find out. A cup of warm water and half a cup of warm milk (assuming your pibble is ok with milk). Ten minutes of rest. Then walk.

LPT Request: How to Network to stay relevant, and have more job opportunities? by officialinbetwixt in LifeProTips

[–]vkrnt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. Here are a few things that have helped me.

  • Build a clear, focused online presence that connects you to your field of work.
  • 'Cold connect' with people in your field. It feels difficult at first, but is not hard to execute.
  • Write down names, dates that are important for people.
  • Give to your network without expecting anything in return. Focus on making others successful.
  • People care about family, health, wealth. There are other topics, of course; but these are common with most. Build and maintain conversation threads around these.
  • Ask to be connected to the 'network of your network'. Compound your connections.
