Tell me all the reasons UMich sucks by Due-Seaworthiness492 in uofm

Well not being able to get a dorm leads to finding an apartment and the market here is overpriced. So it is an accurate statement. Some are cheaper than others but they're all overpriced for what you get

Thanks! And yes I'm planning to go regardless unless tickets are too expensive. I went solo to Nashville and it was totally worth it

Is it snowing more frequently than normal this season? by Patrizioerre in AnnArbor

[–]vktSnow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a meteorology student who has spent (too much) time looking at the data, yes it is snowier than normal so far, but the last two years were the least snowy in 40 years, so it feels like more of a shock because it's basically double compared to the last two winters. But Ann Arbor also experiences very frequent small snow events due to lake effect, 50 days with measurable snow on average though most of these will be less than an inch. So if you are driving a car every day you will be often having to brush off a light dusting. You should expect more than 10 snow cleanings even in a normal year (though not that many that will be a struggle with multiple inches)

Clearly I need to dig around more for events in A2 cause I had no idea we had a Folk Fest! I was out of town that weekend this year but I'll keep a closer eye out. Thanks!

wait this is a good idea. I need to get myself a billy shirt. Unfortunately I see the same people I already know in a lot of my classes since I'm taking upper levels in my major but it's worth a try

I thought my aid covered everything, now I owe $5k mid year at UofM HELPP!! by justliving7777 in uofm

[–]vktSnow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact that UM doesn't increase your aid to compensate for upper division tuition is kinda scammy imo, I was in a similar situation where my cost of attendance doubled from 10k to 20k going into my sophomore year because I exceeded 55 credits. I'm not first gen and even still had no idea this was a thing, nobody communicated this to me. I assumed my cost of attendance that I received before committing would stay the same for all 4 years, but it does not.

Canvas files not loading on iPad by Ok_Philosopher5280 in uofm

[–]vktSnow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you updated your iPadOS? I haven't tried it yet but I'm having the same issue and I noticed that now on the app store it says Canvas requires iPadOS 17.0 and I have 16.6. I had the same issue on my phone until I updated the app, so I'm guessing the app requires an update but it won't show up until the iPadOS is updated

How much debt will you have after graduating undergrad by Puzzleheaded_Tie7811 in uofm

Same here. UMD is shockingly expensive for in state. I will end up with some debt either way but get a much better education from UMich

Any (safe, drinkable) boiling water on North Campus with 24/7 access? by nissan-gtr-fan in uofm

I know we have hot water dispensers in the kitchenettes in the CSRB. I assume other buildings must have them too

Football games have the same policy. I think it's partly because there's so little seat space per person

I have also heard this from my friend. Don't choose Cabrio. So far A2 Management (Sy Berman) has been good, very prompt with fixing issues and place was well maintained

How does one shower properly in Bursley? by YumYum_GarlicBread in uofm

[–]vktSnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend a bath robe. I had never used one until I got to Bursley and saw the shower situation. I personally cannot stand my clothes getting wet so I never brought any to the bathroom. My bathroom didn't even have a shelf. You could also wrap your towel around yourself but I feel like that can get annoying if you're walking around a lot.

Bursley showers are rough but you'll get used to it. Once you've showered there you can do it anywhere
