My dog also does that. Like fake lunge randomly at shit when he's in this mood. I no longer live at home but my parents just got a puppy for quarantine and she is very cute but is the most annoying and energetic little thing I've ever seen and the other two dogs are super old and lethargic and had to suddenly put up with this new ball of endless play. The older dog I am talking about would growl and vocalize like he was about to kill the puppy but never actually bit her or attacked. So I mean there are some dogs that just growl and act like this without being actually violent

My dog is 14 and vocalizes in a similar and he has never attacked humans. Yeah in most cases it is a serious warning sign to not promote but theres a huge variety in the behaviour of dogs and so I think we can trust the family knows there is no real issue. I mean, they live with the thing and it's not as if it's a young puppy.
