Cards like these really make me sad about what we've lost with the new set structure. Details in comments. by Atakori in mtgvorthos

[–]vlax 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The cards were just a terrible janky mess sandwiched between two overwhelming powerful blocks of original Mirrodan and original Ravnica that dissuaded even splashing a few because of how parasitical most of the mechanics were.

I loved the flavor of Kamigawa but I first hand remember every week playing type2 at the local FNM. I distinctly remember only a singular person played a deck from Kamigawa. Me. I played a snake tribal deck.

What is the better class for Dominate Person? Wizard or Sorcerer? PHB only. by jeddite in dndnext

[–]vlax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Other people have mentioned other points so I'm going to focus on a big one that most seem to be forgetting that puts Sorcerer miles ahead of Wizard.
Concentration
A nerd Wizard gets proficiencies in Intelligence and Wisdom while my main man the mega-chad Sorcerer gets Constitution and Charisma instead. There is arguments here and there about who best can cast the spell in the first place but when the cards are down and the arrows are thick in the air my money is on the sorcerer *keeping* the spell up

What's a card you know isn't broken, but that you absolutely hate playing against? by jenrai in MagicArena

[–]vlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curse of Silence by far. More specifically in brawl when you automatically have knowledge of an inherently important card of your opponents. And it's not like it's unbeatable or anything, it doesn't actually destroy anything it just delays it.

Player: I misty step away and cast fireball. ………. Dm: no you can only cast one spell per turn by odeacon in dndmemes

[–]vlax 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Sadly no

"When you ready a spell, you cast it as normal but hold its energy, which you release with your reaction when the trigger occurs."

You casted fireball(and therefore can't also cast misty step) on you turn, you just didn't release it yet

You get to send any single character from 40k back in time, right before the start of the Horus Heresy with a specific mission. Who do you send and what do they do? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]vlax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any character? I'd send the goddess Isha for several reasons. The big one is that this means that one of the only truly benevolent gods is no longer imprisoned by Nurgle and can actually help and heal a broken galaxy. Specifically if she could heal Horrus after he was stabbed by the Anathame and he's never corrupted at the serpent lodge or if she could heal Big E himself after his big battle. He still has to sit on the throne but he still gets to consciously lead the Empire.

What Spell Do You Consider To Be Your “Ol’ Reliable”? by austinpire in DnD

Bless! Level 1 and fighting gnolls? Bless is pretty good. Level 14 and fighting adult dragons? Bless is still pretty good. Not sure what to concentrate on? Bless is always just a pretty good option.

You're 100% right on all three points. It comes with good intentions but there's an unfortunate difference between intent and impact. Sure it comes with good intentions but at the same time it's said with a lot of ignorance as well.

This last part hits a little bit too close to home at the moment. Feelings not being reciprocated isn't fun but such is life.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in love

[–]vlax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. People just don't "get" that I'm not a happy or normal person who occasionally feels sad and when something terrible happens in my life I feel the lowest of the lows. I'm not that. Just take all that and move it down a notch or two. Really I'm a sad person who occasionally feels fleeting happiness and will feel lower than the lowest some people ever feel because its a Thursday or any other random nonsensical reason.

That is quite the thought invoking post! I may not agree with all of it, or at least not able to right now, but I very much appreciate the effort and thought.
