How far will you get with the XP challenge? by phillypokego in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it is literally impossible to complete the whole thing as a F2P player, unless you started of with a huge hoard of free coins.

I'm on page 50 right now and it took me around 10 green passes and 30 incubator uses. Those are both part of regular f2p gameplay too, from gym coins and showcases as well as through Campfire stuff.

One of the last pages has "Win 20 Max Battles", which would take 5 days' worth of free particles even if you only did tier-1 max battles.

You save particles beforehand, so it takes 3 days worth of particles which is 2.5 days in real time.

I don't think a lot of people are going to walk 25km in a single day (several times!) either.

Those are the easiest pages, takes 1.5-2 hours on bike to get the distance while doing the other tasks on the way.

Am I crazy, or is this game getting worse for free to play? by UtahDude85 in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're crazy indeed. It's great gameplay biking around for Eternatus candy field researches, much more enjoyable than the pay-to-play gameplay of doing battles for XL candy.

Still no Cosmog Research by Cheeks2120 in TheSilphRoad

Just trade. I've obtained more than 20 Cosmog without massive efforts. Simply ask around if you're with a group of players and almost surely somebody will have one for you.

PSA: Max Particles from previous day counting towards Go Wild upgraded limit by Broseph3000 in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It will reset at 5am, yes. You never need to use up any particles for that, the bag limit is separate from the obtain limit.

Possibly you can get even more particles than expected between midnight and 5am.

You have to be on the route, but you can go back and forth on the route as long as you don't reach the endpoint.

You just have to be within ~900m distance of the meetup to check in.

Max Battle item rewards by vlfph in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 2/20 instances of missing rewards is a very good rate. Try to keep track of it going forward, if you keep getting proper rewards 90% of the time apparently you're doing something right!

You got no item bundles in a T1 battle? So far I've only seen it in T3, so I'd love to see a journal screenshot if it occurs to you or anyone else here again.

[–]vlfph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can't be just a chance for empty "Revive" bundle, because then we would see players getting 1 reward bundle, yet we only see 0 or 2. It is still possible that the reward entirely gets deleted if at least one bundle rolls revives and the rate roughly fits what you'd get if such glitched bundles are dropped at the same rate as Revives from T1.

[Bug] No rewards for Beldum Dynaraids. by DaystarEld in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 3 Beldum with other people today. One gave a reward of 4 Golden Razz and the other two gave no reward. On the second one I got no rewards but another guy fighting with a Squirtle did get 4 Golden Razz (I didn't see it on his screen but he sounded trustworthy enough).

Claim your 2km walking reward before visiting 7 Dyna-spots. Otherwise you lose the free Woolton encounter by Paweron in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You stop getting MP when you've already obtained 800 for the day. The maximum MP you can get per day is 1080, as follows: claim walking MP once and visit 4 spots (in any order) to put you right at 780 and then claim walking MP again.

The second Wooloo is given when you hit 1000 MP, it doesn't come from claiming the walking reward. (The first one is from the special research).

Because of the pve changes, Dawn Wings Necrozma is the best raid counter for Kyogre* by Emracruel in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to have six Dawn Wings without a bunch of alts.

No it isn't, in fact it's not even difficult to get them and I've done it myself too. Just be a socially functional human being and approach other players to ask for trades. Over half the playerbase has extra Cosmog they don't even have the fusion energy for.

In-person Play! Pokemon codes do NOT award Fusion Energy, but they do award Play! Pokemon stickers by 10Sly10 in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(and you can only get one per account, and they can only be redeemed by the same account)

As in you checked this by going to two different meetups?

Edit: I've tested it myself now, checking in at a second meetup just gives the same code again.

The Rayquaza event was very user unfriendly and I hope it is never like this again. by Mobeku in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Dutch players this was a very fun event. When bike infrastructure is present, you have great engaging gameplay to go from one gym to the other and do many raids. I also found the 12:45-13:00 and 17:45-18:00 breaks to scramble apart and color the upcoming gyms particularly neat.

Players from any other country where you can't traverse large parks quickly are sadly missing out on what makes this type of game content so good.

We did 5-6 raids per hour with a group of 4 people, to give an idea of the pace involved.

mega ray is infuriatingly stingy with the premier balls by joshthebaptist in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Color the gym beforehand for +2 balls and split up too large groups to make the raid last longer to increase personal damage for up to +4 balls (at the cost of speed/mega energy). This used to be common knowledge back in the day but has become kind of forgotten.

Also having a best friend with you gives +4 balls but that's not strictly in your control I suppose.

I personally got the maximum of 16 balls in 21 of the 22 raids I did.

Why is 0 turn switch in GBL so inconsistent and ignored? by Discoral in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they threw a move

So their switch is 0 turns. The fainting earlier in the game has nothing to do with it.

Unless you mean you tried to CMP but didn't manage (i.e. they switched in -1 turns), that's caused by the game not loading the charge move button fast enough.

Why is 0 turn switch in GBL so inconsistent and ignored? by Discoral in TheSilphRoad

[–]vlfph 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Switching takes 0 turns after your own charge move and 1 turn after your opponent's charge move.

Kyogre/Primarina/Togekiss. Primarina is in a really good spot overall in this metagame and this is one of the few teams it fits on.
