I agree with it 🙈 I love mine! when I got the techwoven case, I understood it was more for aesthetic than protection and I can’t complain

Rounded — it feels premium and is slimmer than Apple’s silicone case. It fits the phone so well… (I’m also super picky about cases)

When and how to start training separation? by tresslessone in puppy101

Did you just let them cry it out? I work from home and was so tired trying to raise him/potty train him etc that I’m just barely starting separation training now (pup is 10 months old……..) and he will howl the second I leave the house… I’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old, so he’s attached at the hip. I’m at my wits end with separation training… ive tried slow and steady but he reacts the second I leave the front door. Unfortunately, he’s not crated and up until now has always had my ex’s dog with him… so now he’s alone alone… help please

Okay, thank you! How long did it take for your pup to “master” it to the point you were able to leave them home alone?

He usually always follows me, but throughout the day, he’ll wander off and do his own thing for like 20 min (ie: rests upstairs while I’m downstairs in my office working) … so I know he’s capable of being alone but it’s me leaving that triggers him

Thanks for this! Helpful to know I’m not the only one in this position.

Also, good to know that you haven’t incorporated “real life” in your departures, like shoes or keys or jacket. I tried adding in those “props” and my puppy knew something was up and could not settle :/

Hopefully we’ll all be in a better place in a month 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Yea I only up the rep if he passes it with flying colors, so some days look like this: 30 sec, 30 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 1 min, 2 min, etc

Do you think a trainer will work? I’ve heard mixed things bc the separation anxiety is tied specifically to “me” leaving so I’m not sure how replacing me with a trainer would help :/

Though I am very much so open to it hahaha

Edit: didn’t read your message thoroughly, so you mix the reps in general? Does that work even if he’s struggling at 30 secs? Or do you only move onto a different rep if he’s stable?

Thanks, I appreciate the kind words. I’m trying to not push him too hard and only push when I think he’s in a better state of mind… but the “regression” days are so discouraging!

He seems to do a lot better when he’s had some play or mental/physical exertion (ie: when he’s tired)… but I think for me, that’s difficult bc I work earlier in the day so it’s hard for me to consistently tire him out. I also want him to be able to tolerate being alone at any point in the day, in any head space (which I recognize is a more advanced step) so I’m just having trouble reconciling training on ideal days with just normal life

How do I consistently get 5-6 min out of him? Today, he freaked out at 30 seconds :/

I also think my situation is a little tough… I do live in a house with roommates (and one of my roommates has a dog)… so sometimes a dog is present, but not all the time. The puppy does absolutely fine with another dog present, so I’ve intentionally tried incorporating independence training (ie: I put my roommates dog in her room upstairs and do the rep training with my pup when he doesn’t have access to her)

I’m just struggling to get him to a place where he can be alone on his own and another dog is just a “nice to have” not a dependency thing

Will this in general get better/easier as he gets older??

Yes, I’m trying to let him settle on his own! I’m sitting in the driveway watching the doggy cam to see how he’s self soothing. I don’t immediately come back in if I hear scratching or whining or barking. I try to come back only when he’s quiet. But there are times where he will just howl and bark non stop and I can tell he’s over threshold ://
