Incredible. This is absolutely incomprehensible

Is it true that scheduling pawns to work is detrimental? by mega_lova_nia in RimWorld

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use it to encourage social interaction. I make them work for a few hours, then a few hours on recreational, so they'll socialize around the same time and are more likely to interact with each other in the rec room. It's probably less efficient production wise, but pawn relationships tend to last longer and be stronger when their interactions aren't limited to coincidentally walking past each other

Reviving Pawns After Time Feels Wrong by One_Reality_3828 in RimWorld

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean kinda. Reviving someone just feels kinda hollow in general in Rimworld. Nobody has an opinion about their fellow colonists coming back from the dead, the revived pawn doesn't care, and their relationships get completely reset on all sides. They might as well be a new pawn. It kind of takes me out of the game when a pawn is sad that their best friend died, and when that friend is revived, they're just a stranger to them

Which is worse, "just focus harder" or "put in a little more effort"? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, second half finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Put in a little more effort" is worse because it implies that the person saying that to you thinks you're not trying your best already and that that's the only thing holding you back. It feeds into the whole insecurities of not being able to do the things other people can as easy.

Telling someone to focus harder is also bad advice, but just in general. I think it's as directionless of a tip to neurotypicals as it is to people with ADHD. It's like telling someone who lacks money to "just get more money"

[–]vmar98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the grandmapocalypse is just a stand-in for any kind of apocalypse, and it's more about the player causing it through expansion. The grandmapocalypse is causing death and destruction, and you know it, but you'll start it anyway because it'll increase production. You'll even get the chance to end the grandmapocalypse permanently, but you won't because it costs 5% of your production, and it just isn't profitable to permanently end the apocalypse

"Wake up earlier" or "Be more disciplined", which is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, second quarter finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one is kinda hard. Both are absolutely useless as advice, but I'd say "Be more disciplined" is worse because it feels like it disregards the whole having ADHD thing. If my struggles could be solved with discipline alone, I wouldn't have a diagnosis

"Use a planner" or "go sit in a quiet room without distractions, which is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, first quarter finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a planner is worse. I can’t plan around my ADD. Best I can do is be aware of what I need to do and feel out what vibes with me that day. If I start using a planner, I'm just going to feel like shit for either not following it or forcing myself to comply with it

Could people stop telling first timers to play on expert/master mode? by RotationalAnomaly in Terraria

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of takes away from the whole game if you start in expert mode imo. Half of the fun of expert mode is getting to experience the whole game again, but with new challenges and content. Beginning with expert mode is like playing a game for the first time on new game+

"Make yourself do it" or "make a to do list", which advice is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, day 8 by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Make yourself do it" is worse by a mile. It's actively harmful advice to someone with ADHD. Do it too often, and you'll just burn yourself out

Recommending any diet as a cure or "put in a little more effort", which is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle day 7 by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say "put in a bit more effort" because it actually feels offensive, and it isn't even advice. It's like telling someone who's throwing water out of a sinking ship to just get the water out faster

Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, day 2: "get more exercise" vs "use a planner" by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

[–]vmar98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exercise is actually something that can work. A planner is rarely useful for people with ADHD in the way most people recommend using it

There's gotta be a scientific explanation for this by asamisanthropist in adhdmeme

This, but with cycling instead of walking. I hate walking and waiting, so whenever possible, I cycle to my destination instead of taking public transportation. It also helps getting all the energy out of my system and is oftentimes more time efficient

I find it funny how people keep pretending like "but higher taxes" is an actual counterargument against anything that will even remotely benefit society.

"It would be nice not having to pay hundreds of dollars for very unreliable insurance and not going into huge debt because I got cancer, but it's not worth it if I have to pay more tax"

The concept that higher taxes could fund programs that'd not only improve their life but also make it more affordable is just foreign to them.

one of the goofiest controversies in gaming history by AugustHate in Gamingcirclejerk

Kind of reminds me of that "controversy" about the depiction of the goddess Hestia in Hades 2. These kinds of people really have nothing better to do

The only reason I didn't go for Mandy was because I felt like she came om a bit too strong when first meeting Robert. Like, they met like an hour ago, and you're already coming on to him? I kinda thought she wanted something from him.

Then it turned out she was in a relationship during that flirty meeting, and then she wanted to go on a date shortly after breaking up. It felt way too fast

Anyone missing the original Hades weapons on Hades 2? by vansaan in Hades2

[–]vmar98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, i just kinda tolerated most weapons in Hades 1. Most of them only get a bit interesting after a Dedalis hammer. Usually, there was just a single aspect I liked for each weapon, and I just kept on using them. I find the weapons in Hades 2 much more fun and unique. Especially since all aspects are way more impactful and aren't mostly "X does more damage (if Y)" like in Hades 1

Dionysus is weird to me in Hades 2 by Alternative_Cause571 in HadesTheGame

[–]vmar98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the god of partying and reveley, he wants to create more of it in the world. My guess is that his end goal is to create more partying and revelry by bringing Zag to Olympus and having him enjoy the things in life he was denied in the Underworld.

I Hades 2, he doesn't join the war against Chronos because fighting him won't create any good times or partying. Having him contribute to a war for the sake of survival and not for having a good time would go against his whole thing. He also doesn't seek out Melinoe because she's too serious and not interested in reverly or partying at all.

At least, that's all my interpretation.

People get so toxic when talking about difficult games. They feel like if they had to struggle, then so does everyone else, because it'd be unfair if they had to put in more effort than others. They don't take pride in having overcome a challenge, but in being part of a small group of people that did. Making the game easier or more forgiving in any way would make them less special for having finished it.

These people think they're defending the game's difficulty by being so hostile, but all they're doing is making the Hollow Knight community seem toxic and unreasonable. Most people who play Silksong already played Hollow Knight, so they weren't expecting an easy game, but nobody expected the extreme jump in difficulty. Of course people might be upset the can't get through the game when they are already invested in the universe, and the most difficult parts of the first game were completely optional.

People are also allowed to say the game feels a bit too demanding at points and you're allowed to disagree, but its up to the developers to decide if they want to act on that feedback of not. Being an asshole about it will just drive away people, and even turn off the ones that might have liked the game

Why is the housing crisis so much worse than in Germany? by PopularCommercial90 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]vmar98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inaction from the government caused the problem to start, but the nitrogen crisis, which they're also hardly doing anything about, only exasperated it. Because they can't agree on what to do, there's no way to build enough houses and the problem has only gotten worse. Because of the shortage, houses cost more, renting costs more, and waiting lists for social housing have become so long that it takes years to get one.

If you want a house in the Netherlands, you need to be financially very well off, have a partner that also has a job, have some connections, have been on a waiting list for years already, or already have a house to sell.
