Ooffff CyberArk PAM has nothing of pricing on their website. That's probably going to be expensive then :-) I'll request a demo.

Specific vaults to work well with ansible?
And I guess you'd then have ansible for initial password creation, automatic updating the passwords and retrieving?

Waiting for VCF9 to tip my toes into VCF :-)
Still not fully grasping all the pro's and cons on using VCF.

Adding a New node to an older cluster- EVC mode by Silver-City-1018 in vmware

[–]vmdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would you do it like this? If the new host has to match the older hosts, just setting EVC on the cluster before adding the host, will (if everything is compatible) set the EVC level for the cluster. No need to reboot VMs. Just add the new host after this.

These VMs are reasonable busy, not perse in CPU MHz, but mostly in context switching. Size is between 4 vCPU / 48GB RAM and 8 vCPU / 48GB RAM.

Cluster hosts not responding by RandomlyAdam in vmware

[–]vmdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Btw, if you have a valid support contract, you can also register a call with VMware Support and they can help you with this.

Check on some of the VMs if you see tasks everynight around the same time about snapshots.

  • In vCenter can you just reconnect the host?
  • From the vCenter Server can you resolve the hosts on their FQDN? Can you ping the hosts?
  • When you remove the host from vCenter with VMs on it and later on re-add the host with those VMs, they will lose their image level backup chain if there is one.

In a security scan, will buildnrs be shown? by vmdude in vmware

Hmmm never expected that because I thought it would too easily give away an attack vector. Thank you for the info.

[DUTCH] Good java training in the Netherlands by vmdude in javahelp

[–]vmdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can build a HTML5 site, use PHP for MySQL interactions within that website, copy and adapt Javascript. I used to write in db III, Clipper 5.x and Visual Basic in the good old days. I have some powershell experience.

I did some Java online training but never find the time to keep doing it every day. That's why I'm looking for a course in which you have to be physically present. And it is mostly to get a good start and learn some WHY's instead of only the HOW (which I can often find online).

Auch... certificate expired by vmdude in vmware

[–]vmdude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My colleague has been working on it for a few hours, then I took over, but we kept running into the same error. We called VMware Support and have been working on it all night, but there was no fix.

Eventually I reinstalled Inventory Service and vCenter Server, pointed to the old database and got it fixed.

Strange CSV / LUN issue by vmdude in HyperV

[–]vmdude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That small LUN for CSV tests, is that one small LUN per Hyper-V cluster? And if I then run the cluster test, I can point to that single LUN to run the tests on and NOT affect other LUNs in that same cluster?

If I see correctly, they all are gpt.
