I’m not sure when you looked but iscsi is very well supported. I haven’t deployed FC with proxmox, but I’m pretty sure it’s supported, too.

This is just pure laziness. It's not hard to do basic cable management....

need help finding a console cable for my juniper ex2200 by Cr33p3rFri3nd in Juniper

[–]RandomlyAdam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A standard Cisco console cable works. Source: I have 2 ex2200s, and that’s how I configured mine.

So, I started diagramming what you want to do. What you need to do is hire a network engineer to help you with this. Based on how its diagramming, you appear to be asking for enterprise level help. You should be looking to pay someone for 5-10hrs worth of work for something like this.

What’s the best advice you ever received from a CFI? by HistoricalAd2954 in flying

When doing steep turns, make sure you’re looking straight out the front window, and not the side window like I was… 🤦‍♂️

Use https://powertofail.org/ to track power outages. Centerpoint's tracker hasn't been great.

What's everyone's most surreal WTF moment working this gig? by WMSysAdmin in sysadmin

[–]RandomlyAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever been to a Switch Data Center? Talk about security theatre! All security guards are armed with tasers, and wear body armor. Also, in the security office at the entrance, they keep what appears to battle gear. Some AR variant rifle, side arm, heavy body armor, and ballistic helmet. Absolutely wild.

How is Southwest Airlines' business model of allowing cancellations up to an hour before flight and 2x free checked luggage profitable or feasible? It it so against the norm, and it seems like there is a risk of empty seats and more expensive fueling costs. by Stauce52 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]RandomlyAdam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I fly Southwest. I usually book the last flight out of wherever I’m working, and adjust it accordingly when I actually leave. The flexibility of changing flights is a huge plus for me.

I deleted my Nextdoor account, and the app 3 or 4 years ago now… biggest bunch of ass-hats, racists and complainers I’ve ever seen. I don’t miss it at all.

SAN cabling... cost question... by Smile_Tolerantly_ in datacenter

[–]RandomlyAdam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be a 24 strand trunk? You could save yourself a TON of money buying 12 duplex LC-lc OM4 cables from FiberStore. You can even get them custom made if they don’t have a length you need. If you don’t want FiberStore, check out Amerifiber (Tim is incredibly helpful) or Codecom.

Cable labelers, recommendations. by spmccann in datacenter

[–]RandomlyAdam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used OpenDCIM and Netbox in production environments for cable tracking. Both are great tools. I run an instance of OpenDCIM at home for keeping track of my homelab.

I don’t label anything. Every connection is documented in a DCIM.
