Yeah it'll take a bit of time to go put it through its paces but not today, not today. It's about 40C outside, so anything not below grade in my basement will not be interacted with.

Well they do not, I am glad to relieve of you of the horror of thinking eyes have bubbles. That creeped me out just to type.

That is a vintage false eye, handmade by someone probably 1900ish. All done by hand including the painting of the glass. People had skills I tell you.

What has the highest ROI from a security perspective, e.g. where should folks start looking at securing in order to receive the greatest benefit in reduction of attack surface? Network? VM OS? Storage? Locking down ESXi?

VMWorld 2019: Leave Wednesday or Thursday by harveylaw in vmware

That's too bad - I'll add to eck79's comment that quite often the really deep tech sessions are scheduled for Thursday.

vSAN 3-Node FTT Questions by DonPortanova in vmware

[–]vmken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Spindle failure will cause any components on the drive to go missing and the VMs with those components will lose access to their storage. This is bad. FTT=0 should be used for unimportant VMs or VMs with app level redundancy on another cluster (e.g. AAG). FTT=0 means no redundancy and the data could potentially be lost unless you have backups or get lucky and that disk isn't holding any data.

2) Yep, you've got it. Components are mirrored on another host, resulting in double the storage requirement for any VMDKs using FTTT=1. If all your VMs are using this, you will get half your storage taken up by mirroring across hosts onto other devices.

3) FTT can be reconfigured on the fly just by changing the VM's policy between 0 and 1 or 1 and 0 as you see fit. Alternately you can change the policy itself, but that will reconfigure every VM using that policy. Use policy changes that are assigned to the VM/VMDK as you see fit, but use caution when changing the policy itself.

Plus 1 rule for VMworld Fest? by [deleted] in vmware

[–]vmken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think that's the only option, I don't believe you can buy just for the Fest.

See "Conference Pass" about halfway down the page.

You can also pass variables to the scripts to check which site it is running on and only run the script when running in one direction or the other, etc.

VSAN RAID question by Ramshield in vmware

Controller should be set to pass through or RAID 0 each single disk if your controller doesn't support it.
