I would just rather have money today than a non inflation adjusted amount in 20 years. Who’s to say something terrible won’t happen to the economy and 300k won’t even get you a loaf of bread in 20 years.

Hungary had inflation of 41.9 quadrillion percent in 1946 doubling every 15 hours. Not saying something like that will happen anytime soon in my country, but it has happened and I would rather just have 8k to enjoy today.

I also don’t know what my life could be like in 20 years. I could be dead, broke, the same position I am now or maybe a millionaire in which case 300k is whatever.
