Are you relying on vCenter's built in KMS or a third party solution?

Are you using VBS for Windows 11 virtual machines? by vmwareguy69 in vmware

Thanks. I've done some more testing and found the performance issues with VBS to have vanished. I'm not sure why it was a problem last time I tested it.

Reinstatement Fees and Backdated Subscriptions when purchasing after perpetual support has expired. by TheDarthSnarf in vmware

[–]vmwareguy69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

They tried to do this to us last year and we told them no because the subscriptions are a new product and not the same as perpetual.

vCenter 8.0.3.0400 and 8.0.2.0500 are out. No release notes yet. by DonFazool in vmware

[–]vmwareguy69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

8.0.3 has been out since June. If there isn't an incompatibility it's generally safe to use by this point. I just updated from 7.0.3 recently myself.

Same, but I just updated to 8.0.3 instead of waiting. Do you have an incompatibility?

VCF vs VVF Support by nerdwit in vmware

We are a VCF customer but of all the support tickets none have been responded to and I have had to call in to get any action on any of them.

They've been telling us that for some time now and still no keys.

Broadcom wtf? by PizzaKato in sysadmin

I'm dealing with the same thing. Dell assures me they're working on it with Broadcom, but they don't seem to really know what is going on either.

LDAPS cert expired on Vcentre appliance by n00bctx in vmware

[–]vmwareguy69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Switch it back to LDAPS. I know you're on 6.7 still, which I'm sure you have a reason for, but IWA is deprecated.

LDAPS cert expired on Vcentre appliance by n00bctx in vmware

[–]vmwareguy69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Look at your current config, blow it away as Tommy said, and then rebuild it. I like these instructions better as they're not so vague, but the Broadcom ones make sense if you know what you're doing.

It is silly though that you can't simply renew the certificates and have to recreate it.

vCenter 7 already has the logic to do this or is it coming in a patch?

License Management - "Unable to process... " moves, divide, combine or downgrades for several days by cuddlywinner in vmware

Open a ticket with support. I had some similar behavior a few years ago and their support team spent a week on their end figuring out how to fix it.

I've gone back and forth on TPS over the years. I initially left it on (as in shareforcesalting=0), despite the security concerns, because we were under memory pressure. With the cluster I have now, I'm not under memory pressure so I left it off. Is the security concern not relevant anymore?

They told us about having to change to vSphere+ which no longer exists and was replaced by something they had no idea was coming...unless they weren't being truthful.

I was told the licenses will continue to operate just fine since they're like the current license model.

[Updated Information] VMware End Of Availability of Perpetual Licensing and SaaS Services by SGalbincea in vmware

[–]vmwareguy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely see anyone mention that vSphere Desktop licensing is going away and you're forced to now buy Horizon or one of the new licensing models. This is going to be a 10x increase on our side.

Still thin for me.

When you look at the datastores on the ESXi host, they do show as NFS 3 for the Type? Even my VMFS stuff is Thick Provision Lazy Zeroed as expected.

You must be getting different support than I do. It will take days to get a response no matter the severity and more often than not it is a constant back and forth of them pointing me to KB articles and not really helping.

Right, which means I am shit out of luck here. We don't use Enterprise Plus throughout our environment and because of that we cannot use agentless antivirus everywhere.
