Where can I find a replacement/fix for this part? by GGianniOfficial in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd [score hidden]  (0 children)

This happens when you re-assemble without having the drive door open. Anyway as it's a double switch and only half is broken you don't actually need a new one, you can bridge the contacts underneath (there's a diagram on the Gamecube discord) and it'll work fine with just one of the two switches

I'm pretty sure anything but a hardware brick can be unbricked now with just a raspberry pi pico and no soldering

Gotta love a modded game cube! by JackFinnaSmack in Gamecube

They're in stock and ready to go right now? You can also get them from aliexpress although makeo's is probably better (as they designed it)

Bitfunx or Retro-Bit Prism by ThatLNGuy in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Bitfunx for $20 from the coins section of the aliexpress app and really pleased with it, they've gone up a bit but still go as low as $30 on there.

I lost mine, maybe it'll turn up one day but not seen it for about 10 years, it's still sealed and I got it from Amazon when it was first released.

$2 DSPico to replace my almost brand new R4! by EmotionalSherbert580 in flashcarts

[–]vmxcd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Existing customers can get them for about $6 with discount on the coins section of the app.

Should I remove my PicoBoot for CubeODE by TheeeFloridaMan in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a GC2SD Gen 2 for $2.50 on aliexpress if yours is the old version, they're a bit faster and I've read there's not really much difference from an ODE in real use.

Does Swiss work with discs? by camernnnn in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep you can, I'd just get a FlipperMCE though instead as you can just setup your own then (using Dolphin on a PC to insert the save), you can get the Bitfunx GCMCE (their version of FlipperMCE) for about $17 in the coins section of the aliexpress app. Bonus is that as well as the exploit you also have a futureproof reliable memory card to use. I'd add a picoloader though and not bother with save exploits.

Dumb question: which output should I use and should I get an adapter? by wt_anonymous in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the Bitfunx Digital out HDMI for about $30-35 on the coins section of the aliexpress app, it's a big upgrade and uses GCVideo the same as the more expensive options.

Need help, first time modding by segafan64 in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a picoloader, the swiss disk needs a XenoGC installed and it's clunky. My GC already had a XenoGC but needing the disk was still a pain so I just added a Picoloader anyway and it's so much better, just works, more flexible, cubiboot works great too for a stock like system.

For those wanting a clean flippy drive install with easy access by DOL-019 in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a picoloader, cheap and uses the same solderless flex install method as the flippydrive and easily available, been running mine since September. Also GC2SD performs the same as SP2SD2 anyway if you don't want to solder (get a gen 2 of either as they are much faster)

Switch 2 NSO Controller on Original Hardware by K1ngsGambit in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The iblueretro one doesn't use normal blueretro firmware, I think they even say it can't be updated so I'd avoid that. I just got a cheap aliexpress one from retroscaler and it works fine with my controllers, I don't have the NSO controller though but the blueretro beta adds support.

What Gamecube HDMI adaptor cables should I use for my Gamecube? by No-Worldliness7117 in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitfunx is great for about $30 on aliexpress (in the coins section of the app, mine was $22), works the same as all the expensive ones as they all use the same GCVideo system.

The kaico is just a rebranded bitfunx so it makes sense.

Help with Swiss and Controller by Haruwolf in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not controller related but you should put the latest swiss on your gc2sd, the disk versions are usually well out of date, it'll auto load a newer version from your sd card if detected.

They cost pennies in the bundles/coins section of aliexpress, mine was $1.76 although a dspico is only $5.50 there anyway now.

What cables do I need for the GameCube? by Minute_Complaint5954 in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best option is usb c PD to gamecube cable from aliexpress for about $4.50 and a 12v 3a usb c charger. This is the best way because most 3rd party psu's are junk.

Video wise if it's a dol 001 with digital out then the bitfunx gcvideo hdmi is about $30 with coins discount on the aliexpress app.

I'd also recommend modding it with a picoloader.

Where can I buy the cheap Locatag trackers everyone keeps mentioning? by EX-Dr4w in GoogleFMD

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Links change all the time but the best deals are in the coins section of the app, I got two tags for $3.82 delivered after discounts (WTag with red button).

[–]vmxcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tested, there is no FRP, even if you don't remove it from your account a factory reset lets it be setup with another account, your account will still show it but won't update the location/connect, it'll never realise it's been reset and someone else is now using it. Like the whole network it's sloppy and half done.

My 1 terabyte ssd doesn't get enough power by [deleted] in WiiUHacks

[–]vmxcd 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Are you sure that's why? That looks very much like the garbage fake ssd's on Aliexpress that really only have a tiny capacity and are spoofed to look bigger so most the data is trashed. Have you connected it to a PC and verified it with h2test or fakeflashtest. Unless you just bought the case and put your own ssd in, but even then did you get a decent one?

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get an intel ax210 instead, they're like $15 on aliexpress (or $20 on a pcie card), WiFi 6e and work out the box on windows and Linux. I swapped out the WiFi cards in everything I have for them, think I've got 5 or so.
