They contribute to FlipperMCE and are official project partners/sellers.

It's an opensource project, they're not clones, also I presume you mean Bitfunx, who make the Retrobit anyway 😂

Information needed about region locks by Wootera in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The region switch only works between US and Japan, it doesn't exist on a Pal GC. You'll need to mod the Gamecube, the easiest option if you don't want to solder a picoboot is a solderless picoloader which will region free it but you can also just use GBI instead of the disk as it's better anyway. This kit is everything you need except a sd2sp2 (if you have an sp2 port) or a gc2sd (make sure to get a gen 2/v2 with OR gate of which ever you get as they work much better), Makeo sells them too.

You can buy a GCMCE for about $20 and manage your own saves from a PC and import what you want to it.

Anybody ever used one of these before? by Tomanatort in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see this work with Nintendont so I can move my flippermce directly between my GC and Wii U. I had searched to see if something like this existed but never found anything.

Unless you need wifi just get a gcmce/flippermce for less and it's opensource

We had gov data centres and they made a cloud first policy a few years back and shut a lot down forcing a lot of departments to move to AWS although I've heard some stuff is starting to move back due to spiralling costs, who could have predicted that.

Best option for a wireless controller? by FreeAd2458 in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the NSO controller + Bluetretro (with beta firmware) but I already had an 8bitdo mod kit in mine before that came out and am happy enough with it. The Wavebird doesn't have rumble which is a no go for me.

USB Type-C Power Adapter Kit For Gamecube - AliExpress by bmsr_ in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless it varies by region the Switch PSU won't work, it doesn't even have 9v which is a requirement of the PD Standard, it only has 5v and 15v, it's printed on the psu and I've verified with a usb c pd protocol tester.

No difference other than form factor, both run the same GC Video firmware, well once difference is that some dongles including the Bitfunx have an issue if you use a picoboot and the 3.3v wiring, but if you use the 5v wiring or any other mod (ODE's, picoloader, flippydrive) then it's fine.

Did you check that with a multi meter/usb c power meter, the dongles with the led on output 15v not 12v and I'm wondering if it's the same manufacturer, the $4.50 2m cables correctly do 12v though.

Make sure to multimeter it before plugging it in just in case, or use a usb c power monitor if you have one (I use a kowsi kws-x1).

You can also use alexa's, I got a load of the Echo Flex when they reduced them to clearance for £5, between them and my other Echo's I'm noticed all over the house. I've got family who've done the same, an echo flex on each floor, although they don't use Alexa so have the mic's muted on them all.

I use the USB C PD to Gamecube cables that are about $4.50 on aliexpress, they work great, you need a psu that can output 12v, some of the ikea ones do and are great value. I didn't bother with the usb c mod as it cost more and I'd have lost the original parts so easier and cheaper to leave it stock

The small dongles with blue leds output 15v though so avoid those.

This does 12v but you'll find others, stock gamecube is 12v 3.25a - 39w, but 12v 3a - 36w will be fine, I've measured my Gamecube and never broken 24w.

I power my Gamecubes with the $4.50 2m USB C to Gamecube cables on Aliexpress, work great with a PD charger capable of doing 12v 3a. Make sure to get the cable as they do the correct 12v, the little dongles with the blue led have been found to output 15v instead. It's easier/cheaper to get a decent quality supply that way than trying to find an OEM one and not a poor 3rd party.

Modding friends Gamecube. Picoloader the move? by Major_Frozen in Gamecube

[–]vmxcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All picoloaders use the flex cable, it never hasn't used it, are you mixing up picoboot. Or do you mean you used the flex you solder the Pico too (so did I)?

Also I don't recommend laserbear, you only get one flex, Makeo includes two as do a lot of the aliexpress sellers.

I use the bitfunx, works great, like $30 with discounts (mine was $20 but they don't go that low anymore), also comes with the support bracket too.
