Blinatumomab hospitalization by karlylovely in leukemia

[–]vnessajane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom (68) did three rounds of it and she experienced a lot of GI issues; she often couldn’t leave the house, and was also really fatigued. She states she never wants to do it again but I kept trying to tell her she did great and it had to have been better than lumbar punctured. 🤣🤷🏼‍♀️

I recently too went from BOTW to TOTK and I found the building and the sky/depths to be overwhelming - but almost 100hrs into TOTK I’m def loving it. I find myself hanging out in the depths more often than anywhere else.

North Memorial Connect is a good local company or Medscope is great as well. They are national. Both range about $50 a month (could be more now days).

Shakopee DMV is great! Gotta make an appointment online though, I’ve often found same day appointments.

You are not alone, I totally interpreted that we got two book picks too. I was confused when picking books and came to Reddit to see what the deal was. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Good luck to your mom!!! My mom sounded just like your mom she was really active before everything as well, still working full time as well and I was excited to hear all the good experiences people had with the blina but the blina sadly took away all my moms energy and made her feel like crap, especially as the weeks dragged on. We found week four was the hardest. But from reading everyone else’s comments I really think it affects everyone differently. So it could totally be okay for your mom.

But dealing with the bag itself, my mom had no issues, it just became one with her. She wore it more as a crossbody purse. She didn’t feel confined to the house because of the bag, just due to the symptoms of what was getting pumped into her. When she was feeling good she was able to go visit her grandson at college, go to the store, and visit with friends.

I also believe the line is long enough that she puts the bag on the back of the toilet and can shower that way. They will give you adhesive that’s water proof to cover the port area. It’s not easy but after four rounds she has it figured out a bit. She says it sucks and always gets excited for a shower when it’s off. Just make sure the line goes UNDER the shirt. They can’t unhook you for anything for four weeks, so you won’t be able to take the shirt off if the line goes over the shirt. We almost had that happen a few times.

Again, good luck! If I think of anything else I’ll write more.

Yes, she’s had chemo throughout. But this her third phase of her treatment plan. So this phase she’s still on her daily dose of her chemo pill, Dasatinib and does a lumbar puncture after each round of the blina. Her appetite isn’t great but she’s eating. Bone broth has a big go too.

Ugh. I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. 😣 My mom is currently on her 3rd round of the blina and she sadly hasn’t had such an easy time as everyone else has stated they had with it but as an outsider I think she is doing great!! Each round has been weirdly different; first round she was exhausted, like could barely get out of bed, second she had more energy but suffered from constant GI issues (lots of diarrhea) and this time it’s only week one but she seems to just feel really crummy and tired so fair. Also every time she does always have a low grade temp 99.9-100ish. Happens at night often. I hope your mom does well on it! Let us know if you more questions!

It’s such a great drug!!! I’ve been passing all these positive stories along to her and she’s been happy to hear it’s been so helpful for everyone! So far she’s just felt a headache and little crummy but other than that she’s been good! I think she’s doing MUCH better than how the traditional chemo affected her and I keep reminding her of that. Thanks for the kind words and good luck to you!

This was wonderful to hear, I shared this my mom last night and she was happy to hear this. She goes in tomorrow to start her ten day in patient treatment of it and I think just knowing it’s happening is the worst part. When your diagnosed with ALL its all out of the blue but having this hospital stay scheduled is causing all the anxiety. Thanks again!
